David
received a $440 second payment.
"Personally I am very happy that GiveDirectly chose to send me these cash transfers. I never thought I would ever build an iron roofed house in my life. I am always beaming with joy when I go to sleep.
Prior to receiving the cash transfers, I was living in a thatched house for over 34 years which was in a really inhabitable state. I have observed that constructing this house has improved my living conditions and the community members accord me more respect."

"Building an Iron roofed house has always been my wish but I do not have enough money to do so.
The grass thatched house that I sleep in is small and it leeks when it rains.
Receiving this money will enable me to build an Iron roofed house regardles of the size.
I will also buy a cow with part of the money so that my family can have milk."

Nicodemus
received a $23 eleventh payment.
"One thing I am sure about is the sale of the tree seedlings which will take a very short period of time to start growing. Once they are bought then definitely I will be sure of generating some income which will help me a great deal in taking care of my financial needs and the daily financial needs of the family."

Patrick
received a $443 second payment.
"My daily life is much better because I can now afford to buy Agricultural inputs (seeds) in large quantities. I'm sure of food security in my home. Prior to this transfer, I faced a challenge of food insecurity because I could farm in small quantities. In addition, I'm able to pay school fees for my 3 children who are now in private school. My children can now access better education. Before this transfer, I could not afford better performing schools. I was forced to enrol them in a Government school which had teachers with low commitment."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is the recurring illness that occassionally puts me down. I develop chest and back pain which limits me from doing much work like fully participating in selling my local brew and this affects my income."

"The biggest hardship I face is lack of a stable source of income for paying school fees for my children. I struggle a lot to balance between food for the family and to be sold in order to pay school fees for the children which gives me stress."

Ben
received a $443 second payment.
"My life is different in that, I sleep in a cemented descent house now and I am very happy for this achievement. In addition, I have owned oxen and an ox-plough that have made farming easier for me and I believe I will have increased yields this season since the planting was done in time. Previously, I ploughed my farm land late because the oxen owners were not willing to give out their oxen before they finish with their farms. I also didn't have enough money to buy cement and pay labour for plastering my house."
