"My next goal is to ensure I invest well and ensure I will be able to sustain myself even after Give Directly have finished their program in our village. I expect to be able to cater for my family needs and ensure they will never sleep hungry or have no clothes to put on. All these will and can be achieved if I plan well and invest the money I get from this organization. Generally I want to be financially independent."

"My life is currently different from the way it would have been had I not received the transfer in that I'm proud and happy my mum now has a home and a cow. I did not have any form of investment because I did not have any stable source of income. When I received the money, I decided to put up a house for my mother who had struggled to raise us and this was one of the ways I promised to support her. I did not like seeing her put up in a rental house with her small income. She could not invest because most of her income was channeled in paying monthly house rent. I felt its time she moved on and live a decent life with her little income and this was the only way to achieve it."

"My life is currently different from the way it would have been because I now have cows which I would have I never bought without the transfer from GD. I feel very proud because I have my own cows and I do not feel as poor as I used to before the transfers. This is a source investment for my family for if we have any financial emergency, we can sell the cows and raise money for the emergency."

"I saw the transfer notification from GiveDirectly early in the morning. My helper checked in my inbox and confirmed that my transfer had finally had been sent to my Mpesa account. I was overjoyed for the transfer and thankful to God and to GiveDirectly for the financial help. This money really meant a lot in my life since I knew that I would be able to achieve a lot of things using them."

"I used to cultivate a smaller acreage because hiring was a bit expensive to me and having my own pair would help with a bigger acreage. Through the pair of oxen that I acquired through the GiveDirectly transfers, I am assured of increasing the acreage of my arable land to get better yields. To me, owning this pair of oxen is the biggest difference in my daily life. This is because it is not only an asset to me but it will also ensure food security for my family since I am expecting my productivity to increase as I am now planning on ploughing a large acreage of land."

"My life has changed positively in that, I have been in position to construct my dream house(an iron roofed) that I am currently staying in. Before receiving this transfer, I didn't have enough money to construct an iron roofed house. I had a burden of my children's school fees which was taking the little money we would get from agricultural produce, so I didn't have hope of building an iron roofed house."

"After spending my recent transfer on buying passion fruits and seedlings, I will no longer seek casual jobs more often because I will be managing my own farm. I am glad that Give Directly chose me to be one of their beneficiaries. I was able to make big steps in life because of them. May God bless this organization."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house. Grass has become so scarse and expensive to buy and this makes maintaining a grass thatched house hard. I will also buy a cow that can provide for me milk and if there is still some bance left, buy a piece of land that I can caltivate. "

"The cash transfers relieved me of the school fees burden that I had. I spent all the cash transfers to pay for school fees and tuition for one child. I was able to clear all their boarding school fees. This has been my greatest joy. In the past, it was very difficult for me to pay all their school fees at once. This was because I majorly depended on the sale of surplus food crops which were not profitable. I am delighted that the cash transfers offloaded that burden. I am now relaxed and at peace."
