Fatuam
received a $517 second payment.
"Before I was enrolled to the GiveDirectly program, I had one cow only. When I received this financial help, I acquired two heifers, a pair of oxen and goats. I am now doing my farming with my own pair of oxen. I no longer hire the services of ploughing from neighbours like I used to do. Also, its now possible to fully cultivate my whole acreage to better harvest. I am expecting the goats and heifers and goats to multiply and have a herd. These are assets that I can readily depend on in case of a financial problem."

Dhahabu
received a $517 second payment.
"My life is currently different because I have finally achieved my greatest need; A new decent house to live in with my family. In addition, I also have a pair of oxen to use for ploughing. I am expecting to plough my whole acreage during the planting season. By doing this early and timely, I am assured of getting enough harvest to feed my family. Also, my children are comfortably in school studying without any interruptions unlike before when they would be constantly sent home for fees since I could not pay for them on time."

Kadzo
received a $517 second payment.
"My two children had completed their high school studies and my plan was to enrol them to a college. The big challenge was how to raise the money for them. I was troubled on how I would pay for them. Thanks to GiveDirectly for coming because through this money, they all joined a college of their choice. I also built a new house to live with my family. Had it not been this transfer, then I would still be living in my small hut that was in a very bad and pathetic condition."

Esther
received a $517 second payment.
"I would depend on casual jobs to feed my family and sometimes we would miss taking food when I wasn't luck to get some to do to earn. When I got the money I bought some maize which took us some days and we wouldn't miss what to eat as I had some cash to buy food with it."

Rosemary
received a $517 second payment.
"Before Give Directly came, I had a simple structure outside my my house which I had covered with a polythene. This acted as a cooking area for us. During rainy seasons the place was not so good. When I got my transfers from Give Directly, I spend part of it to buy building materials and constructed a semi permanent Kitchen. This was the greatest achievement which I got as a result of this transfers. I no longer have worries during rainy seasons like before."

"I never imagined that I would ever build a better house anytime soon were it not for Give Directly. I used to have a made wall house with a grass touched roof which was leaking. I used to pray that one day that I shall build a new one but now I have a good house which is more spacious. "

Macdalenah
received a $517 second payment.
"The biggest difference which happened to me when I got these transfers is the huge burden of school fees which I managed to offset after I got the transfers. The little income which I would make through dairy farming was enough to pay school fees for my four children in high school and college. After I paid all the school fees required, I got the peace which I never had before I paid it. "

Beatrice
received a $22 twenty-fourth payment.
"In the next six months I expect to have accumulated enough money to which as per the plan, the money will be meant to purchase a cow. Currently I am working hard in the casual labor, and with the monthly contribution I have been receiving, I hope to add up to the savings and spend the same in purchasing a good breed of a cow."
