"The biggest difference is that I am now hopeful of living in my own home. Through the transfers I got from Give Directly I have already bought the necessary building materials. Initially, I only used to depend on casual jobs. The money I got from these jobs was enough to buy basic needs. I used to save nothing towards this goal therefore there were slim chances of establishing my home. I am happy that soon I will be living with my family in our own homestead."

"My life is different now that there's a significant increase in the production of milk which has led to an increased income for us as a family. This is as a result of improved feeds for my livestock. I am glad that I have a also planted more feeds for my cows. This will ensure that there is always enough supply of feeds to my cows and ensure a continued and constant supply of milk I am also glad that I now have a tank. This helps in ensuring that we access clean water sufficiently. This will reduce the cases of sickness that is associated with contaminated water."

Juliana
received a $518 second payment.
"Without GiveDirectly, I would not have bought a dairy cow at this time. At my age, I was unable to raise a large sum of money because I now rely on children to provide for my needs. They are all focusing on their families so they could only give me little money for upkeep. I am letting them work on their own needs that I have a daily income from selling milk. Life has become better for me and for them too."

Dama
received a $518 second payment.
"My life would have been very different if it were not to GD's support. We were living in grass-thatched yet mad wall house. At night we used a kerosene lamp and other occasions what to eat was a problem. But this has changed since, after the second transfers, we made electricity connections, build a bricked house with an iron roof and have invested in livestock keeping."

Nathan
received a $518 second payment.
"Having closed my shop a few years ago because of dwindling finances as occasioned by huge responsibilities that required finances such as my children's school fees, I am glad that I have now reopened a retail shop, bigger than what I had before. I did not think I would ever do this because I honestly did not know how or where I would get the capital to start this business again. The retail shop will be an additional source of income for my family and would help us meet our day to day needs. I was also able to improve my chicken rearing farming by buying a chicken mesh. This will improve the safety of my chicken and will also ensure that my crops are not destroyed by the chicken. I am so grateful for GiveDirectly for lending us a hand."

Mary
received a $518 second payment.
"My children have gone to school something I did not know would happen. Most of the villagers though my children would end up being school dropouts but my faith in God through GD I have seen the door open up where there seemed to be no way. I may not have improved my house but the fact that my children as able to go to school with no arrears and when they come home they find food is enough to make a happy parent. My priority, for now, is to educate my children something that I was not privileged to get."

Zawadi
received a $518 second payment.
"My life is different from how it would have been because I have a water project that I never imagined of owning. Besides domestic use, I also sell water and earn revenue. With the revenue earned, I can easily foot my bills an also pay school fees for my children. Previously, I had to do casual jobs to meet my daily expenses. This was never a guarantee as there were good and bad days. On good days we had extra for saving but on the bad days, we went without food."

"My life is now very different from how it would have been simply because I live in a better house a dream that would not have been achieved anytime soon. I see this as a God-given opportunity. Initially, I had plans for improving my house but the reality is I could not pull it. I did casual jobs that were only enough to meet my"

Kang'ombe
received a $518 second payment.
"To be sincere If I would not have received the transfers, I would not have built a house. From my daily expenditure and compared to my income there is nothing left to save or invest. I was living from hand to mouth and I had not dreamt of owning a brick and iron-roofed house but GD has made this possible. I would have lived in the same conditional for God knows how long."
