Daisy
received a $519 second payment.
"Many things have happened in my life since I started receiving the transfer from GiveDirectly which have really changed my life. The biggest difference so far is the joy of good sofa set seats which is a result of these transfers. I am now not worried when I have guests since I got comfortable seats where they can seat. Before I have worked hard to build a good house but there were no seats at all. I would borrow from neighbours I got some visitors. Now the shame is gone for good as I have my own. Again, I bought two heifers with the intention of rearing them. I believe with time they would have reproduced and I will have more cattle which I can sell to have money for supporting my children education."

Sibora
received a $519 second payment.
"Farming is a major source of income in my region and with the current unpredictable weather conditions and plant diseases, crop farming is no longer worth investing in. Due to this, one needs to major in dairy farming as it requires little labor and is not costly. With the transfer, I purchased a dairy cow and this is an added asset to my family. My milk production will increase when it calves hence increase in my daily income. I will, in turn, be using this money to cater for my children's education on time."

"The biggest hardship I face on my life is inadequate income. I do not have a reliable source of income which makes my household vulnerable. I can not even hire oxen in order to plough and for crop cultivation and besides, I do not own enough land which forces my household to hire. All these requires money which I have to get through casual labour."

Gladys
received a $519 second payment.
"Before GiveDirectly came, we were living in a small house. All these years, I was left without a choice but to stay in it because I couldn't afford to build a new house when all the saving we had was focused on my spouse's education. The little resources that remained were limited to meeting our family daily basic needs. Having a spacious house like this makes me and my family to no longer shy away when we have visitors. This is my life's difference that I wouldn't have met had it not been for GIveDirectly."

"In comparison to if I never received the transfer, my current life is way too different. I have taken a lot more steps ahead which would not have been possible without the transfers. Among the completed projects are; extension of the existing house, purchase of livestock, improving poultry project and also ensuring the availability of enough foodstuff in our household."

Dhahabu
received a $535 initial payment.
"I spent part of my first transfer on paying school for my children who are in primary school. I then bought some goats as my potential assets. I settled in buying them because of the climatic conditions in my village and also they reproduce faster. I also bought some building materials such as bricks, some bags of cement and sand, This was purposely for the renovation of my house which was in poor condition. Some of its walls were weak and were almost collapsing which was brought about by the heavy rains. I then bought a solar panel, this was specifically for my children who normally study at night. Previously they were using some candles which sometimes I could not afford to buy them and the smoke which was produced from the candles was affecting their health. The remaining amount of money, I bought some sufficient foodstuffs for my family that would take for like two weeks."
