How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Farming is a major source of income in my region and with the current unpredictable weather conditions and plant diseases, crop farming is no longer worth investing in. Due to this, one needs to major in dairy farming as it requires little labor and is not costly. With the transfer, I purchased a dairy cow and this is an added asset to my family. My milk production will increase when it calves hence increase in my daily income. I will, in turn, be using this money to cater for my children's education on time.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Give Directly did well buy giving us unconditional transfer and I do not see anything that they did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My family's health has always been my priority since one can never do anything when sick. When I received my second transfer, I paid for my NHIF monthly premiums for the whole year. I settled on this so that we can be getting treatment without paying for it at that time. Also, I spent some amount to pay school fees for my children. To me, their education is an investment since one is useless in our current society if he/she has no formal education. On the remaining amount, I bought enough food to last my family for some time after fencing my compound.
