"Land unproductivity as a result of unpredictable weather patterns in this region has resulted to poor yields thus low harvests. Farming has been my main source of livelihood ever since, but is no longer dependeble due to the challenges experienced. Supporting my family needs and more so education and food is therefore the biggest hardship I face."

""My ambition has been to build a spacious house. I have been staying in a small structure which is almost collapsing but due to financial challenges, this dream has never emerged. Receiving this money means fulfilling my long time desire. I am planning to spend 80,000 shillings of the transfer on the construction. Furthermore, I am going to spend the remaining amount to purchase 1 indigenous dairy cow which will be providing milk for me at least 1 litre in a day. I will use the milk for my domestic use and this is going to boast my health.""

"I have been having the desire of owning a spacious house for my family of 6. Additionally, I had some projects which I started but came to an abrupt halt due to financial crisis. When I receive the transfer I intend to use 20,000 shillings to expand our house to three rooms. Also, I will use 20,000 shillings to boost my poultry commercial project by repairing the structure and adding more chicken. The remaining amount will be used to pay my children's school fees, buying food and clothing."

"Supporting my children's education has been the bigggest hardship I face. My two daughters ended up getting married at a tender age against my wish, since I could not afford to pay their school fees past primary school. I am currently struggling to educate my other six children who are still in primary school. I depend on farming to earn a living but farming has become unreliable in this region due to poor weather patterns."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is lack of enough income to satisfy my family's needs. I depend on casual jobs to get money. The jobs are physical and rare to find. I have a problem with my stomach which a doctor recommended that I should not do energy draining jobs. This has really affected my income. I now stay at home most of the times doing less physical jobs."

"Subsistence farming is what I have been depending on for my survival but this has been unreliable since the rain patterns in our area are not predictable. In most cases, my harvests are always low usually 1 bag which sustains us only for 2 months. Therefore, food insecurity is basically the biggest hardship that I have ever faced in my life."

"I have been living in a grass thatched house for a while now. This is the same house I sleep (together with my family) as well as cook in it. It always gets so uncomfortable to my children when I am cooking and they are in their sleep because of huge smoke from the firewood I use to cook. The same house also leaks a lot and during rainy seasons we are forced to sit up at night because of leakages from almost every corner. If I get lucky to be enrolled I will build a better house for my family."
