"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is food insecurity and lack of a descent and a spacious house for my family. Watching my children sleep hungry in a squeezed room is very painful."

"In the year 2013, my father in law asked my wife to leave me merely because I could not pay her dowry and she heeded the advice. I have not had another opportunity to see my family again since then. My biggest desire right now is to save money so that I can pay up the dowry and finally reunite with my family. Receiving this money will mean a lot to me because it will enable me to get 50000 shillings to pay my wife's dowry."

"My parents separated in the year 2002 because of reasons I am yet to find out. I am not in a good relationship with my biological father just because he hates my mother. I love him so much and I wish we could enjoy a harmonious relationship just like other families. He has told me countless times that he wishes I died when I was young. He has made several attempts to kill me with a machete but thank God he has been unsuccessful in all. I have pleaded with him to forgive me just in case I wronged him unknowingly but my plea has always been falling on deaf ears."

"We live and do crop farming on 0.7 acres of land that I inherited from my parents. As such, the inadequacy of tillable land forces us to lead a substandard lifestyle. Specifically, we usually realize low yields that could hardly sustain us yet we rely solely on subsistence farming. Also, the lack of space does not allow us to diversify our farming activities. Hence, the biggest hardship we have faced in life is the inadequacy of arable land."

"I spent part of my first transfer on buying a few building materials which include iron sheets, timber, building poles, nails, and thread. This was purposely for the construction of a new house since the previous one was small and it could accommodate some of my family members. I also bought a pair of oxen and I believe they will be of great help in my agricultural activities. Also, some new beddings such as two mattresses to replace the old ones which were worn out. For the remaining amount of money, I bought sufficient foodstuffs for my family."
