"Lack of a reliable source of income is my biggest challenge. I work as a casual labourer at our nearby center, this jobs earns me 300 shillings in a day. This amount is not enough to sustain all our needs such as school fees. Due to this reason I have failed to clear school fees for my children ."

"Being an orphan, it has been an uphill task getting money for education and other basic household needs. My elder brother dropped out of school due to the same. Receiving this money is the beginning of life breakthrough. My worries of me and my 3 other siblings dropping out of school have been lifted. This money will enable us pay my school fees and that of my younger siblings. I am planning to spend $150 to pay for my form 3 education upfront and buy a dairy cow worth $300. This means my siblings will comfortably go to secondary school in the next one year from the proceeds of this cow."

"I fully depend on my husband to provide for the family's needs. My husband is a casual labourer who earns between 2-3 USD a day. This has seen me struggle in getting the basic needs such as food and clothing. He works away from and sometimes he sends no money at all when he does not get casual jobs. This has seen me and my four children have less to eat for the day. Financial constraints has therefore been my biggest hardship. This even explains the condition of my house."

"Receiving this money means a spacious house for my family and any visitor who might visit us. Sometimes visitors pay us a visit and they miss on somewhere to sleep. I'll use part of the transfer to expand my house by two rooms to facilitate this. I'll use the balance to pay for my daughter's school fees so that she can have enough study time in school. Doing this will make me happy."

"I am grateful for being considered in this program. The money will help me in do many ways. This year, i experienced low production despite cultivating a larger piece of land. This was so because of lack of fertilizer. I will use the money to buy some bags of maize and fertilizer in readiness of next season. I also plan to buy some new clothes for my family. We don't have nice clothes because most of the clothes are torn."

"I am getting old and feeble to cater for myself. I don't have a stable source of income and having one has been my ambition. I at times depend on my children for upkeep and they have their family of their own to cater for. I feel I am becoming an impediment to them. My intention is to add one more dairy cow to the one I have. My plan is spend approximately Ksh 30,000 from the transfer to acquire one. I am projecting to milk at least 6 litres a day. This will enable me to sell at least 4 liters at Ksh 30 per liter. This will be a landmark in setting a stable source of income."
