Picoty
received a $513 initial payment.
"Upon receiving the first transfer, I spent the first portion of it on livestock where I bought a cow and a goat both costing 33000KES. I used part of the remaining on completing the lighting system in our household by obtaining a battery and other lighting pieces of equipment. I also managed to clear my children's school fees, bought them new clothing, and also stocked some food that was almost running out of stock. We are really grateful as a household after receiving this transfer that we are soon seeing a completely different home from the one we had been having."

"Charcoal burning is the main source of income that I have been doing for my household's upkeep. This work is currently not reliable since I am no longer energetic, plus trees are not in plenty. This has forced me to live a desperate life that has turned my family into a laughing stock to our neighbors and even to my close relatives. I have always felt ashamed living in a house that looks like goats' shade just because I can not afford to construct a nice shelter. Therefore, I consider financial instability as the biggest hardship that I have ever faced in my life."

"The biggest hardship i have faced in my life is actually lack of enough money to support my family in all aspects. The maize I harvest every year cannot support my family for the rest of the year."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to improve my home to a better standard. Currently the walls are worn out since part of it is made of mud. This poses a danger especially from wild animals like snakes. I had started constructing the walls using stones and cement but lack of finances halted the process. A big thanks to Give Directly since I will be able to use 200 USD to complete construction of the wall and cementing of the floor too."
