"The biggest hardship we've faced as a family has been financial stability. My husband and I are fortunate enough to to earn an income at the end of month. Combined salaries amount to $400 each month, which is not enough to pay school fees for our children nor aid in construction of our dream house"

received a $492 second payment.
"When I received my transfer, I spent KES 24,000 to purchase a dairy cow. I settled on this so that when it reproduces, I will be able to save the money I would otherwise use in buying milk. I am now glad since I will be able to use KES 1800 that I would have used in milk on something else. Also, I spent around KES 7000 on poultry by buying some chicken. Using the remaining amount, I bought four sacks of maize, some food stuffs and clothes for my family."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to extend my business of selling vegetables and stocking my shop, I will also build a house for my brother who stays with us in our small house.
I am a first born in my home and everyone including my father literally depends from the small amount I get from the shop, my wife does a business of selling vegetables house to house and we consume everything for food.
I plan to use 400 dollars for the construction and 200 dollars for business expansion. I plan to spend the rest to purchase a second hand motorcycle to ease my transportation."

"My life is different than how it would have been had I not received the transfer. This is because I was able to acquire a dairy cow and pay school fees for my son using the transfers. Due to this, I have been able to gather for our daily needs on time using the income from milk sales. Also, my son has been able to continue with his studies and will be sitting for his examinations soon."

"In my opinion, Givedirectly has done well by giving out aid inform of cash. The money was also uncondition enabling beneficiaries to choose what to use it on according to their needs. This has uplifted the living standard of people in my village. I do not see anything that Givedrectly did not do well."

received a $492 second payment.
"Before receiving the transfer, I used to walk for a long distance looking for water but this is no longer the case. This is because I now have a water tank that I use in harvesting and storing rain water. Also, I was able to acquire a dairy cow using my transfer. Due to this, I am optimistic that I will no longer be buying milk daily very soon. In addition, I now have some assets like goats that I can easily convert to cash when faced with financial challanges like paying school fees for my children. Being able to accomplish all these has made my life different than how it would have been had I not received the transfer."
