"Receiving this money means good life. When I get the transfers I will use 30 thousands kenyan shillings to construct a big house that will be enough for me and my family. This is because we have been sleeping in one room together with my children for long time, which does not bring privacy as parents and children. The other amount Will be the starting capital to open charcoal shop which will bring good income to my house."

"The biggest hardship I have faced in life is the scarcity of jobs in my field of house-construction. Since my parents struggled to raise my college fees, even by selling some of the livestock we had, I feel that I owe my family a lot. Specifically, as the firstborn in a family of six, I should be helping my parents educate my siblings. Also, I am struggling to provide for my young family. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic worsened the situation following the economic challenges that emerged. Hence, securing a job has become much difficult for me because I am the one looking for potential employers and I handle the construction tasks."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to go to the hospital and seek advanced medical attention. I have been married for the fifth year now. However, have been unable to give birth to any child. This has been stressing me plus the shame I get in my society. I am planning to use the transfer to seek medical attention so that I can get the treatment and give birth to atleast one child. This will earn me the respect I have always desired to in the village. Moreover, giving birth to a child will make my lovely husband happy."

"Receiving this money means a descent and a spacious house for my family of five. I currently live in a one bedroom house that is not enough for my family. I am planning to use 400 dollars to construct a two bedroom house for my children and a family store. I will use the balance to start a retail shop in the village. Most people in my village travel long distances to access a retail shop. Therefore having one in the village will reduce their burden at the same time earn me handsone profits. The profits will enable me sustain my family well."
