"The biggest hardship has been financial constraints. I have children in different schools and I am taking care of two orphans who are my nieces. Sometimes it's hard to find school fees for them. We use to rely on maize farming but since the arrival of maize diseases we can't plan much like before. Food shortages has also been a challenge, with the little money we get from farming it cannot sustain our needs."

"As a farmer, lack of enough resources has limited my farming activities. Receiving this money will save me the cost of ploughing my farm since I intend to buy two oxen at a cost of 30,000 Kenya Shillings. I have been depending on hiring the oxen from my neighbor to till up to 8 acres of land which is quite expensive."

"Receiving this money to me means a lot. I have children in different schools and getting this transfer will enable me to pay for their school fees. I also have a niece who is a partial orphan she did Kenya Certificate of Primary Education but she didn't proceed to secondary school due lack of school fees. So when I get this money i will be able to pay for her school fees."

"Drought and hunger has been my biggest hardship. The climate has been unfavourable for my farm crops as it has been harsh and unproductive. I am left to depend on casual labour, which is not a guarantee, to feed my family. We at times stay without food, depend on one meal a day or sacrifice for the kids albeit my wife giving birth 2 months ago. This has impacted negatively on the health of my children has it has deteriorated."

"Receiving this means food security for my household. I depend on subsistence farming for a living but unfortunately, I am aged and not strong enough to attend to the farm. I intend to use KES 20000 on cultivating the farm.Additionally, I will use KES 20000 to purchase a dairy cow that will be my source of income as I will sell the milk and use some for the household. Furthermore, KES 30000 will facilitate the construction of a house. I will use the rest of the transfers for my upkeep."

"Receiving this money means self employment for me. I am a tailor by profession. I finished my tailoring course back in 2015, up to date, I am yet to practice my skills. I am planning to use 10,000 Kenyan shillings to buy a sewing machine, 10,000 to buy clothing materials and 5,000 Kenyan shillings to rent premises for my tailoring business. I will be able to earn a living from that business. This will enable me to be self reliant with my family of 3 children. I will then use the rest of the money to buy 3 cows. Cows are a source continuous income for me. Once the cows multiply, I will sell some of them and earn a good amount of money."
