"The biggest hardship has been financial constraints. I have children in different schools and I am taking care of two orphans who are my nieces. Sometimes it's hard to find school fees for them. We use to rely on maize farming but since the arrival of maize diseases we can't plan much like before. Food shortages has also been a challenge, with the little money we get from farming it cannot sustain our needs."

"As a farmer, lack of enough resources has limited my farming activities. Receiving this money will save me the cost of ploughing my farm since I intend to buy two oxen at a cost of 30,000 Kenya Shillings. I have been depending on hiring the oxen from my neighbor to till up to 8 acres of land which is quite expensive."

"Receiving this money to me means a lot. I have children in different schools and getting this transfer will enable me to pay for their school fees. I also have a niece who is a partial orphan she did Kenya Certificate of Primary Education but she didn't proceed to secondary school due lack of school fees. So when I get this money i will be able to pay for her school fees."

"My family is growing and the wages I earn (KES 300 daily) from the casual job isn't enough to feed them . I intend to use KES 27000 to purchase a dairy cow hence use some of the milk for the household and sell the rest for income generation . I will further purchase 3 dairy goats at KES 15000 to boost the milk business . Additionally , KES 21000 will go towards purchasing bags of maize as my land hasn't been productive for a couple of years. Moreover , I will use the rest of the transfers on clothing for my children and to start a small business that will assist in buying food for the household incase there is none."

"The biggest hardship that I face is scarcity of water in this area. This place is very dry, there is no piped water nearby. On a daily basis, I walk a total of six kilometers to fetch water for drinking and domestic use. When you hire somebody to do it for you, you will have to part with 50 Kenyan shillings per 20 litres which is expensive for me."
