"So we are making Pepper garden, and during that we need to regularly water the farm , But now we don't have watering can and also watering machine. And to get them now is a serious challenge for us because we don't have money to buy those materials.
We can also experience insects attack on the farm regularly, with that, we also need insects killer for the farm. But we also don't have money for that, because when we do the sale from the farm after the insects attacked we used that money on our house project. That is how our house has reached this level.."

"The major challenge I'm face with now is financial constraint. Right now, the few begs of coal we had was sold a month ago and the money could not carry us this far. To provide for my family is very difficult and my husband is not doing anything. We all survive on this coal business."

"Firstly I have my aging mother that I am catering to in terms of feeding and the provision of medications, which I can not afford due to my current financial status. My house is not in a good condition to provide shelter for my family, during the rainy season we seek shelter in other relatives house. This puts me in a position to work on people's farm for little amount of money that can not sustain my family."

"I am very old and I don't have the energy to till land anymore. Food insecurity is a major problem here. I buy the food almost on a daily basis , I have been depending on the cash transfers for the elderly from the government. The money is little and it hardly last a month . My intention is to use the grant to buy food , it will sustain me for a longer period .I will use approximately Kes 20000 to stock maize and beans and then the rest of the money I will be using gradually to buy things like cooking fat ,sugar among others."

"The biggest hardship that I am facing is lack of money for my children in school. I have two children in a secondary school, one in college and the rest in primary school. It is difficult to sufficiently meet their education needs given that I rely on a small business that I do once a week,.on a market day. On average, I make about KES 4000 in a month. It worries me seeing that more children are heading to their secondary level, which will be more expensive than the money I make."

"Receiving this money would mean a paid hospital bill for my wife. She is currently hospitalized being treated for stomach cancer for the last 3 weeks the bill has risen to KES. 200,000 and it is still rising. My family organized a fund raiser recently but it just raised 10% of the KES. 200,000. Despite my wife being in hospital now am happy that I have been enrolled to this program at least it will help me pay her medical bill in part."

"The death of my spouse who was the bread winner for this family is the greatest hardship I have endured in my life. My husband worked as a carpenter and he provided everything for the family. After his demise I lost my job as a waiter because I had to take care of my children fully.Currently I work on my farm for subsistence purposes and sometimes I look for casual work within the village so that I can get some income to buy food and clothings for my kids ."
