"In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well in enrolling and helping us through the cash transfer programme. This has resulted in a lot of transformation in our village. With cash transfers, each household had the right to determine how to change their life for the better. I think unconditional cash transfers are the best option to fight poverty. I feel every process was well elaborate and there is nothing the organization need to improve."

"I was still going with so much happiness when I received this transfers because it meant that I could finally buy the piece of land that I had to set my eyes on. As soon as I got the chance to withdraw the money I proceeded to pay KES 50,000 on the two acres of land that I purchased. I then proceeded to spend the remaining balance of KES 3,000 on renting an ox to plough my land."

"I intended buying myself a couple of clothes since most of the ones I own are old and worn out. Nutrition is also most definitely part of my priority list and therefore I intend on using any money I receive to focus on that especially considering that we are experiencing drought."

"First and foremost I would like to thank Give Directly for this unforgettable experience for me and my family. This is because prior to being enrolled into the program I was scared that my kids were going to be dropouts but I am glad this money saved my children from this fate."

"I'm planning to spend some money this year on acquiring a few farm animals, ideally goats as they are less expensive than cows. This is so that I'll have a backup plan in case I encounter financial difficulties. Considering how difficult it is, I also want to concentrate on nutrition."

"My primary source of income, farming, is no longer profitable, so I'm considering making a different investment that will still be successful. My objective this year is to get four goats because they can survive the drought in our area and are consequently doing well. The demand for them is strong, and they reproduce every year. Hence, by selling some of them in the future, I will be able to make a nice living from them and use the proceeds to support our family. Although I am a religious leader, I essentially make nothing from it, therefore the goats will increase our income."

"I spent a huge portion of my second transfer on buying bricks and bags of cement. These were for the renovation of my house which had cracks on its walls and holes all over. In the winter seasons, I used to move from one compound to the other to seek shelter because the cold night could affect me considering that I am old. I feel relieved and contented because as soon as I will finish building this house all the worries shall come to an end. Also, with the remaining amount of cash, I opted to buy sufficient food. This has also been one of the challenges and I must say through GiveDirectly, I am now strong and active as a result of the plenty of food."

"The goal that I have at the moment is to complete the payment of the piece of land that I am yet to complete. I still have a debt of $220 to pay the landowner who is disturbing me. He has gone to the level of stopping the ongoing construction of the house due to the pending land charges. I intend to take a loan from our women's group to clear the pending cost of land."
