Sarah
received a $422 second payment.
"If you compare my village now and two years ago, you will realize that their is a big difference. People own cattle, some build better houses and some have business to support their livelihood. Everyone in my village benefited with GiveDirectly's program in a transparent way. I feel like GiveDirectly should start a program targeting the most vulnerable people in the society. For example people with disability."

"Our main source of income is crop farming. I intend to lease out land and plant more maize. This will ensure that our family of seven will no longer experience food shortages. We will also sell surplus maize to earn some money for the family."

"I am yet to complete the renovation of our house. The goal that I have currently is buying and putting up doors to my house. At the moment, it does not have doors which is risky, especially at night. In addition, I wish to start a small grocery business selling dry fish and kale around the village to earn a living to support myself financially."

"All my life as a child, I have always dreamt of becoming a home owner. In the past few years, life has been tough . We used to go in search of palmnuts in the bush and sell them in order to survive.I wasn't able to enroll all my five children in school, but with the help from Givedirectly I'm now able to enroll all of my children in school.I have set up a property for my children and ensure that they have what they need and don't have to depend on others for assistance anymore."

Esther
received a $436 second payment.
"I spent $250 on purchasing sofa set seats, beds and tables. I have always wanted to purchase this furniture but I did not have the money. I depend majorly on small-scale farming and the products that I get are so small that I was not able to get the surplus to sell. whenever I had visitors there were no decent seats and this was so demoralizing. I am so happy because I am no longer shy from welcoming visitors into my house like before. I purchase a sky blast for storing clean water for drinking. The remaining amount of money I spent on food, clothes and utensils. I am so grateful because I was able to meet all these items."

Phirsila
received a $436 second payment.
"I spent the second transfer on purchasing cement, sand and other building materials to cement the floor of my house. We lived in a dusty house and I had always wished to cement it but I did not have the money. We were always being exposed to dust particles and this could cause some respiratory-related diseases that are expensive to cure. I depend on small-scale farming and the produce that I would get was only for consumption I did not have any surplus to sell. We do not have any continuous source of income. I am so happy because now we live comfortably without any worries like before, part of the money I used to pay the workers who did the construction. The remaining part of the money I bought food and clothes for my children. We are so grateful because GiveDirectly has changed our living standards."

Henry
received a $436 second payment.
"GiveDirectly does perfect work in that everything is planned well from the beginning of the training and the enrolments of the people in the community. Most of the people understood the program and spent the transfer well. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well."
