Lilian
received a $23 eleventh payment.
"I expect my life to change in the next six months because I will have fenced my compound. I have planted vegetables in my kitchen garden which I do not want to be destroyed by the neighbour's animals that sometimes makes me quarrel because of this simple issue. I am glad that when this happens, I will live peacefuly with all of them."

Edward
received a $23 eleventh payment.
"I expect my life to change in the next six months in that, I will have paid dowry. My wife has been pushing me to pay dowry and at some point, she thought maybe I was not serious with our marriage. But that is not the case and this is why I plan to pay her dowry once I have accumulated enough money. This will also earn me respect from my In-laws. I am also planning to take my child to a boarding school because the school he is going to currently is very far forcing her to come home late which is risky. Apart from that, he also gets tired and may not revise well on what he learnt at school."

Anna
received a $549 initial payment.
"The moment I realized I had an unread message on my phone, I reluctantly checked. I knew it was the usual Safaricom message. To my dismay, it was not as I expected. On realizing it was a Mpesa message, I hurriedly checked. I could not believe my eyes as tears rolled down my cheeks. It was a moment I will never forget."

Rotich
received a $549 initial payment.
"When I received my first transfer I was totally overwhelmed with joy.I have never thought we will come across such a large amount of money in our lives. My family and I decided to celebrate that day by slaughtering a chicken we normally keep for emergencies. Up to now, I'm still shocked at how God can shine on me without much struggle."

Peter
received a $23 eighth payment.
"In the next six months, I plan to buy building materials. This is because I am tired of living in a grass thatched house when all my fellows are living in iron-roofed houses. I also want to upgrade so that I may be in the same standard as everybody in my village. I would not want to carry the name of the poorest in the village."

"In the next six months, I expect to have a new house which will be spacious enough to accommodate all of us especially during the night such that my children will not be hoping from compound to compound to get a place to rest at night. This has always been my biggest worry since my daughters are at great risk of sexual assault."

Stanley
received a $531 second payment.
"My life has greatly changed for the better. I now sleep peacefully not worrying about my son like I used to do before we received the transfers. Building a house for my son had given me sleepless nights for a long time. I had a lot of worries about his safety whenever he was going to find sleep in a neighbors house. At one time, I felt I had failed as a parent in providing the basic things that a parent should provide for their children. With GiveDirectly transfers, I have been able to construct a house for my son and he now stays at home with us. This has restored my pride as a parent and has made my son happy too."
