Amos
received a $451 second payment.
"My family is now decent and happy compared to the past when I had no money. The cash transfers have enabled me purchase clothing and basic needs for my family.
secondly, the cash transfer enabled me to purchase a pair of oxen.
When the rainy season sets in, I will have enough work force to till and cultivate my farmlands thus improving my agricultural outputs. I will have enough food to feed my family the dry season."

"I expect that my life will be different six months from now because I will have been able to buy a new solar powered panel that I will use to illuminate my house. The one I have right now is too small and cannot be enough to illuminate my house appropriately."

Betty
received a $549 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life since this transfer has been great. Earlier last year I had lost my mother and my niece who drowned in a river. I spent a fortune on their funeral expenses. I can say that I'm getting back on track with daily chores and rebuilding on what I had lost due to depression. I'm even happier and stronger because this money came at the time of need. i have been able to give hope to my family again."

Judith
received a $531 second payment.
"My life in the past was a life full of mockery and humiliation unlike the current life. I had a small house and there was no kitchen and this forced me to cook in the same room. Now I managed to build a kitchen which I used not to have before I had no chairs to sit on, and I used to borrow chairs from neighbour for my visitors when they come. This could generate gossip, but now I have bought sofa set and my state of begging is far gone.

Johana
received a $549 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my life is that I now own a new house. Earlier before receiving the transfers, I used to live in small grass thatched house that was on the verge of collapsing. Whenever it rained we could move some of our items to one corner of the house due to leakages. It was even worst whenever it rained at night since we could hardly get some sleep due to the cold. At some point, my 3-year-old daughter was diagnosed with pneumonia due to long exposure to cold. Building a house has been my long-time aspiration and I am the happiest. We now sleep well and we even have enough space for visitors. Most importantly is the confidence and high esteem level that poverty had robbed me. I am really grateful to Givedirectly."

Sheila
received a $549 initial payment.
"The transfers started trickling in my neighbor's phones as from 10 am. At that time of the day, I heard people ululating in joy at the neighborhood as they had received the transfers. I was on the farm and did not even have my phone at hand. It was charging at a neighbor's house. I immediately went for my phone and on switching it on I got a message notifying me that I had received the transfers. The joy at that moment was immeasurable, I even shed tears of joy. I was full of energy and immediately prepared myself and went to the nearby agent to withdraw the transfers."
