Elizabeth
received a $50 fourth payment.
"The biggest difference in my life is that my business is doing much better. I spent most of the transfer in increasing stock in my business. I am now reaping from this as the proceeds are now higher. I am able to meet my family daily needs and even have extra to save. Before receiving the transfers, my business was on the verge of collapsing as my capital had been depleted. I could get proceeds that were too little for my needs. I am really grateful as the transfers came in handy."

Suleiman
received a $367 second payment.
"I used my most recent transfer to buy three pigs. I decided on pig farming because their gestation period is short hence can increase in number within a short period. The mortality rate of piglets is also low hence easier to main when they give birth. This is a good investment since I will sell the pigs in future to earn an income. I also used part of my transfers to pay school fees for my brother who was joining form one. My parents could not raise all the school fees since they depend on the little income they get from casual jobs. I also bought iron sheets since I am planning to build a house at home. Currently I do not have a house and this the best time to build using part of my transfers."

Margaret
received a $367 second payment.
"I spent my most recent transfers to expand my business. I sell men's trousers in Mathare since December last year, 2018. I hawk these trousers around Mathare. I used to sell sweets around Mathare in Blue House area near Eastleigh estate. I have always admired to sell clothes but I had no capital to start this business. I am very grateful to Give Directly for providing me with capital to start this business. My business is doing well and I get some savings out of this business as well as providing for my children."

Ruth
received a $23 eleventh payment.
"In the next six months, I expect to have cemented the floor of my house and I will no longer be subjected to dust-related health risks such as infection by jiggers. My house will be more decent and this will make me feel comfortable and at peace to have visitors around. I had been afraid even to request my relatives to visit me since I feared that some of them could be affected by dust which emanates from the floor of my house especially when I take a long time before I smear it with cow-dung."

Jackson

"My new goal is to open a retail shop. This will be an additional source of income to pay school fees for my siblings. The income I get now is little and can not meet all my basic needs and also support my parents to pay school fees for my siblings. I will also save part of the income from my businesses to build a house because now I do not have a house in my rural home."

Brian
received a $50 fourth payment.
"The biggest difference in my life is that I started large scale farming of onions. My father was already doing farming and I used to really admire the business since he gets lots of profit. The challenge that I had was capital to start farming. When I got the transfers I bought seedlings and planted them. At the moment they are only one month away from harvesting. It is an acre and as soon as I harvest them I am going to get lots of money. Having certainty of a brighter future through large scale farming gives me joy."
