"In the next six months l expect to have put up my own house and staying in it comfortably."

"Having a business of my own has always been my desire. Currently, I am employed as a butcher at a local shopping center, and the business is not doing well at all. The owner is demotivated due to low sales arising from lack of a stable market here. In most cases, am being unable to provide basic needs for the family due to poor pay. Once I receive my transfers, I will venture into a more suitable place where I can set up a butchery. And with the skills that I gained while working here, am pretty sure that it's going to be a success. For the rest of the transfers, I will purchase oxen and an ox plow. This is because untimely planting has been our greatest undoing, and I want to change that by having the capacity to plough as much land as possible with my oxen."

"I do not expect my life to change in the next six months because I am still figuring out some of the best projects I need to indulge in. I have not found one yet. I do not want to start something that might fail due to lack of enough background checks. To me, I feel that rushing into something will not bring a good result. As for now, I think it is wise to ensure that I meet my basic needs."

"Having to rely solely on myself for upkeep despite my old age is the biggest hardship that I face in life. I have children and daughters in law but they do not contribute towards my upkeep on most occasions because they too are overwhelmed by their own family needs as they tell me whenever I seek for their help.This forces me to still struggle on my own despite my aching limbs to perform tasks such going to the farm,fetching water from far away pans and struggling to get food on my own when my farm stock runs dry because not doing so means sleeping hungry or even not getting water to bath myself and wash my belongings. I find myself wishing so many times that my husband were still alive so that he would take care of me like he used to when he was still alive."

"Financial constraint is the biggest hardship that we face as a family. Much as we have tried to merge my income from burning and selling charcoal with my husband's income as a casually employed driver in Mombasa, it is not always enough to cater for all the needs of our six children. We are not yet able to consistently pay for their school fees thus the reason why they are always on and off of school. Constructing a spacious shelter is also a very big challenge for us. Currently, we have all been forced to squeeze in our one bed roomed house which is very uncomfortable with grown up teenagers. We are forced to share sleeping mats since we can not even afford beds and to a large extent this limits everyone's privacy. "

"I am currently renting a house in the centre. I do not have a house and I would wish to buy building materials and build a new house. I see this come to pass by saving the transfers ina merry-go-round towards buying building materials that I will use to build a new house for my family."
