How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is quite different because for one I was able to get a job of my own because right now I have my own cows which I use to plow my own farm. Once the process is done I get to plant various cash crops which have been giving a lot of returns especially the beans where I normally get around four bags at the end of the season.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, I think the organization has been helping the needy to achieve some of the things that they were never able to achieve using their own minds and natural God-given abilities. On the flipside, I do not think that there is anything negative that I have seen about GD at the moment.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the cash transfer to buy some new iron sheets which I used to buold a new kitchen structure as well doing some little bit of renovations on a cowshed for my animals. During the renovation process I used approcximately 15000 KES which included buying a few bags of cement.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I no longer wake up very early in the morning to do odd jobs in people's farms which could pay less money for more hours but instead I get my own money from ploughing people's farms. I am my own boss nowadays, thanks to GiveDirectly.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was early in the morning around 6am when I was preparing to go and do the weeding in my parcel of land and before then, I decided to read the message on my phone. When I realized that I had gotten money from GiveDirectly, I was overwhelmed with joy and suddenly changed my mind, on the plan that I had of weeding. I just sat down and drew my budget. I knew that I will be able to take care of most of my needs.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
Before GiveDirectly started giving us transfers I was owning a ploughing machine which my neighbours could hire at a cost but this could cash in little income so when I received my transfer, I decided to buy three bulls. I am glad that this has brought a relief because, I use the bulls to prepare my parcel of land and this simply means that, I do not have to pay people so as to work in my farm. The best part of it is that I also get money from ploughing people's farm which has greatly increased my source of income. I also bought two bags of maize for the family's consumption and more clothes to look decent.
