"I wake up as early as 5:00am in the morning, prepare my two children for school, cook breakfast then take them to school. I then go back home and start doing my house chores until around 10:00am. I am normally indoors taking care of my younger child the whole day until evening when I go to fetch my children back from school. After arriving home I help them with their homework then prepare supper. We eat as a family and I retire to bed for the next day.
On my free time I watch movies and sometimes invite my friends to hang out and socialize."

"The biggest hardship that I am faced with is sickness.
I have a child that has pneumonia.
Taking care of her is a little challenging.
It is common for her to collapse especially when she feels even just a headache.
I do casual labour to raise money to pay for her medical bills.
With this kind of life, I am not able to save anything because the little that I can earn all goes into medical bills.
Some times I sell even food just to raise money that can clear off debdts."

"I have been a cook at the nearby school for quite some time now, and the passion I have gained in this sector is huge. I have also had this desire of starting up a hotel business, but the income I get from that job is not enough to raise the capital needed given that I've been the sole provider to my children for four years now after losing my husband. All the income that I earn goes to basic necessities including education. Therefore, once I receive my transfers, I will put some of the money in this business. Firstly, I will secure an affordable premise at the nearby shopping center, then purchase all the necessary equipment. Again, am interested in livestock rearing particularly goats given that they are not labor intensive and not susceptible to diseases and pests. Once all this are up and running, I will be in a better position to meet the needs of the family with much ease and that is what receiving this money means to me."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to pay bride price to my parents-in-law.
By so doing, I will be a free man.
This will give us the opportunity to settle together as a family amids all charllenges that may arise."

"The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of farm land. I do hire each time I cultivate.
I have never had the opportunity to buy because I don't have money.
I cultivate in small quantities and harvest less based on the limitations of space."

"I used to have a girlfriend with whom I concubined for sometime but later her parents took her away because I had not married her. When I get this money, I will buy cows that I will use as dowry to officially marry that girlfriend of mine and she moves in to settle at my home and we start planning together."

Happy
received a $523 second payment.
"My life is currently different from how it was before Give Directly came into my life because I could not have managed to start a business. I had been selling charcoal which was hectic because one has to do a lot of work but get less money. The transfers enabled me to open a shop which is more profitable as compared to the charcoal selling business. I was also able to pay school fees for my child for the whole term. I am now certain that my child will stay in school without being sent home which was impossible before. The great joy of owning the three goats is something that I did know I will experience any time soon. I just thank GiveDirectly for the help that I received because my life is no longer the same."
