Alice
received a $22 twentieth payment.
"I expect my life to have changed in the next six months because I will be using the transfers to run a grocery business. I also hope to have bought some chickens that may be another source of income through egg production. The income I will be getting from grocery business and poultry keeping will sustain us. I also know my son will be going on well with his education because I will be paying school fees on time using my transfers stating form January 2020. I expect to be successful in these many ways in the coming six months."

Harriet
enrolled.
"The biggest hardship I have faced is late cultivation of crops which has brought about food shortage in my family. This is due to the absence of my own oxen to plough on time. I have always had to wait for other people with oxen to finish ploughing their own land before they can help me as well. And this has often happened late in the rainy season."

Chepkoech
received a $535 initial payment.
"It was around 4 am when I received a message alert on my phone. Since I was already awake and listening to a radio, I decided to check it and know its content. Upon reading its contents, I became so happy and gave thanks to God for the blessings that had just come in."

Kadzo
received a $535 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own an ox that I acquired with the first transfer I received from GiveDirectly. I will be borrowing the other ox from my neighbour so that they can work as a pair. They will help me in ploughing my farm since the pair can take fewer days to plough an acre as compared to tilling myself. I believe I will get an increased harvest. Apart from that, I will hire it to my neighbors at a fee to make an extra income to help me sustain my family needs with ease. From the money that I will be getting, I want to start a business of a hotel and this will double my income. I believe my life will never be the same again in the next few months."

David
received a $39 twelfth payment.
"At the moment I do not see myself with any new goal but first I have to ensure that my life is in order by having a better living place and the most basic household requirements. This is because after leaving the lifestyle of drug addition I got a decent job at a carwash in Mathare though its wages are not sustain. I am still figuring out how to stabilize my life using GiveDirectly's monthly transfers ."

Angeline
received a $535 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life ever since I started receiving transfers from Give Directly is that I now have a complete pair of oxen. Previously I used to have one who that could 't plough on its own. I can now plow my farm because I recently bought another one and this has saved me from the expenses of hiring labor. Whenever I did not have enough money for labor, I was forced to dig my own farm alone and this meant that I would only dig and plant a small section of my farm and leave the rest to idle. I am hopeful that I would have a good harvest over the coming season now that I was able to utilize my whole farm. I am also glad that the expenses that usually go to payment of labor was spent on other important activities."

Anyango
received a $22 seventeenth payment.
"I expect to have a stable business in the next six months. Having a business will enable me to have an additional source of income. The little money I get from my shop business I will use to expand it and part of it I'll use on plastering my house. I want to thank Give Directly for this kind of economic empowerment.
I expect to live a better life, for example, I want to make sure that I plaster my house and paint it so that one day I will give testimony to my grandchildren, that it is because of Gively Directly that I owned such a house."

Michael
received a $22 twenty-first payment.
"I am a goal-orientated person and I have a belief I will achieve my dream of having dairy farming in my home. I expect to have a better life than the one I have now by having an additional source of income. I have a lot of difficulty in both paying school fees for my school-going children and providing other basic needs. It is very hectic simple because I have to provide everything alone though my daily income is too little to sustain their needs. At times I am forced to borrow in which some people after helping you they start talking bad about you. In the next six months, I expect to have a better life, whereby I can financially support my family without straining too much."
