"In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses and to buy dairy cows. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well."

"My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I was able to pay school fees for my son who was in form four last year. I do casual jobs in the village and sometimes to get this jobs is so hard. My spouse too do this casual jobs. The amount of money that we get through this is so small and cannot meet all the basic needs of the family. My son could be sent home to collect the school fees and this was affecting his performance since lessons were on going. When I paid the school fees he had enough time to study well without being sent home. This improved his performance in school, currently he is planning to join college soon. I also saved some money for my daughter who is joining form one this year. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has enabled us to achieved our dreams. We are so grateful for the support."

"My family and I currently live in a 0.5 acre land that is not sufficient for tilling, hence receiving this money will enable me to buy a 2 acre piece of land at $600. I will then use $250 to build a better house since the current one-roomed grass thatched hut we live in with my spouse and 2 children is too tiny and leaks in water during rainy seasons. I also intend to buy one dairy cow for milking, thus the lessening the daily worry of where to get money to buy milk for my family consumption."

"I have been living alone with my children for ten months now from the time I separated with my husband. My only way to find food is through farming although I do not harvest a lot since the soil here relies heavily on fetilizer which I never buy. The little I harvest to feed the children ,I complement it by doing pieceworks around the village so as to make some money for buying daily necessities. My main priority for this money is to build a better house for me and my children. The other house which we were staying in fell down due to the heavy rains in December. Part of the money will also be used to buy some basic necessities such as food, beddings, mattress and other proper utensils so that I prepare my food in a safe manner. I am very happy to be enrolled in this program as now my life will improve than ever before."

"I spent part of my second transfer on buying some building materials such as 24 pieces of iron sheets, nails, and timber at a total of 29000. This was purposely for the completion of my house which I had initially started using the first transfer. The previous house was very small and as my family grows I was afraid someday it would not accommodate us all. Also, I paid the laborer KES 6000. In addition, I bought three goats worth KES 9000. With the remaining amount, I bought enough foodstuffs and decent clothes for my children to replace the old ones"

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by ensuring all the beneficiaries were issue mobile phones. Some of us never had hopes of owning them anytime soon simply because they were ex[ensove. Also, GveDirctly has made communication to be easier amongst ourselves in the village with the help of the phones part from sending and receiving money. I do not see any part GD failed us."

"My life is different than it was before in that, through the transfer I was able to clear the fee balances for my child and now he learning without being sent home due to fees. Previously, he was always out of school due to fee arrears. Also, I am now sleeping on comfortable beddings, back in the days, I was sleeping on old sacks which were not soft and I was always feeling backache. In addition, I was able to construct a decent shelter for my farming and acquired 5 goats, my future investment for my family."

"I spent my second transfer on purchasing one dairy cow for $230, this is my future investment for my family it will be able to assist me whenever I face any financial crisis in my life. Once it reproduces I will be able to sell the offspring. I also educate my 3 siblings who are still in primary school by paying their school fees. Furthermore, I send $100 to complete the construction of my house by purchasing nails and paying labour costs. The remaining amount assisted in purchasing clothes for everyone in my family and bought enough food for my family."

"I spent my transfer on purchasing a dairy cow for $135, this is the future investment that will assist me in educating my children when it multiplies. I also invest $120 in my kid's educational needs by paying fees for two terms. I used the remaining amount to provide food for my family by purchasing enough foodstuffs. This is because my husband is jobless and we did not have any means of getting food so thought I was good to stock sufficient food for the family."
