"I have no work to do so as to earn income. I sit all day and depend on my siblings to feed me. There are only few jobs that I can manage to do. One of them is looking after livestock. I lost 2 cows to the drought which were my only hope. At some point in this project, I would wish to invest in livestock farming."

"Financial constraint is the main challenge that I am struggling with most. Considering my charcoal work which is low-paying usually 2000 KES per month, it has never been enough to fully cater to my basic needs like food. Sometimes, I forfeit some meals or survive with one meal a day. Hence, I consider food insecurity as the main challenge that I am currently facing in my life."

"I am a son to a single mother. For 20 years now, I do not know what my father looks like. Not knowing if my dad is alive or not, stresses me up. Indirectly, this has affected my school performance because I am frequently lost in thoughts instead of concentrating on my studies."

"I was a renowned livestock farmer in this community. I was a proud owner of above 40 goats. In 2021, a severe drought killed all of them. None remained due to water and pasture scarcity. I was depressed. Imagine losing all your source of income. My intention with these funds is to jumpstart my occupation. I will buy 5 goats at 3,000 KES each. The goats will gradually increase in number and I will regain from the losses I incurred."

"Self-respect has been my desire for almost 5 years now. My house collapsed in 2017. I was forced to start sharing a house with my mother in law which is an abomination in our community. This has caused disgrace to me. I have not known peace since 2017. People talk negatively about me. To regain my reputation, I will construct a house of about 20,000 KES and shift immediately. I believe having my own house will bring me tranquility."

"A comfortable life is what it means to me by receiving this money. I have for a long time admired sleeping on a modern bed and a mattress but this has never been possible due to financial instability. With this cash grant, I intend to spend my money on materializing this dream, and to ensure this comes to reality, I only need to accumulate 15000 KES of my transfers. This will guarantee me a better livelihood at the age of 86 years. The remaining transfers will aid in getting my other basic needs like food with ease."

"My greatest desire is to see my grandchildren getting the best education for a better future. Currently, they are in primary school and the challenge has been the lack of school fees. I intend to use my monthly transfers to support them in paying their school fees. This will allow them to settle in school and thus, good performances. On the other hand, I will also spend some of my transfers on livestock to have a long-term investment plan for myself. Hence, this is generally what receiving this money means to me."

"My greatest desire is to repair the roof of my house which was temporarily made. On windy days, some iron sheets are blown away which is very risky to me and my neighbors too. My efforts to repair it has been in vain due to financial constraint and with this cash grant, I am so optimistic about realizing my dream. I intend to spend my monthly transfers in buying strong poles and nails to ensure it is made permanent. To ensure this is done, I only need to accumulate 20000 KES of my transfers. The other transfers will aid in venturing to livestock (goats) keeping as well as supporting me on very basic needs like food. Thus, this is generally what receiving this money means to me."

"Speaking as my mother's trustee, this money will help us to get her good medical attention. She is very weak but the doctors say all she needs is a lot of rest and good food. Her weakness could be due to old age because there is nothing negative that shows in her medical tests."
