In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well for enrolling every person into the program without discrimination on basis of tribe or religion. In addition, sending unconditional cash transfers was a great thing since I can comfortably choose the way I want to use my transfer to better my living condition. I thank the organization for the transfer and I don't see anything that they did not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent KES 1000 of my transfer to purchase enough food for myself. This is because I am unable to work due to the illness that has paralyzed my legs and I can no longer walk. I am planning to spend the remaining amount to restart poultry rearing an activity that I had been depending on for my upkeep but most of them died due to chronic illness and I sold the remaining to seek medical care for myself. In addition, I am planning to spend the next transfer to continue seeking proper medical care for myself since I have not recovered fully.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 9 am, I was in my bed resting after having my breakfast and taking morning medical doses. I heard my phone ringing continuously, I was with my daughter who was nursing me. She checked the phone and informed me that I had received the transfer. I was very happy for receiving my aid the was to transform my life for the better.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I can meet my daily needs like food without much effort. I am no longer skipping meals or spending a whole day without food. In addition, I am positive that I will be able to recover once I undergo treatment with the help of my transfer.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Being sick, old, and unable to work due to my health conditions. I had been depending on my children for everything to keep my life rolling. The coming of GiveDirectly to our village was a great relief for me and my children. I spent all my recent transfer on purchasing different foodstuffs like baking flour, maize flour, and vegetables this is because there is famine due to the drought conditions in our area. I am planning to spend my next transfer to seek proper medication for myself because I am required to go for a check-up every costly month. Furthermore, I intend to use some amount to start small-scale poultry farming when I recover completely.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Speaking as my mother's trustee, this money will help us to get her good medical attention. She is very weak but the doctors say all she needs is a lot of rest and good food. Her weakness could be due to old age because there is nothing negative that shows in her medical tests.
What is the happiest part of your day?
We are happy to have our mother alive for this many years. She is 84 years of age and we are grateful she is still with us.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
She can barely hear anyone, walks with a lot of difficulties, and strains a lot when she tries to get up. Generally, his health is not good at all.
