"The biggest difference in my daily life is having my all grazing land partitioned. I am really happy that this has at least reduced animals from my neighborhood grazing on my land. Planting adequate maize means enough food after harvest."

"It was around 8p.m when I received a message on my phone with confirmation of receiving some amount from Give directly. To me, this was great news because we had plans of accomplishing some things since we enrolled in the program. I thanked God and went ahead to inform the other family members that we had received the amount we had been waiting for since we were enrolled. This was going to at least help us to settle our financial constraints."

"Clearing of school remedial arrears for my child was a priority. With Kshs.5,000 I used to clear the arrears. My child was able to go back to school and catch up with what he had missed. I had also deposited some amount for land that was being sold by my neighbor. With Kshs.20,000 I used to clear the debt that was remaining. Am now happy that I am rightfully the owner of the land. I also used Ksh. 5,000 in paying a debt for sacs of maize I had been taking from a nearby posho mill. With the remaining amount, I used to buy food and clothes for my household members."

"The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving money from GiveDirectly is I am about to have a better house than the one I have been living in. "I spent most of the transfer which was KES 35000 on making some progress in building my house, in which I was able to complete the walls as well as reinforcing them with concrete pillars all round them. I did this because it was my top priority as I have been living in a makeshift house which is in a very poor condition that is not any different from sleeping out in the open especially when it rains at night. In addition to it being in a very poor condition, it was so small and already congested therefore my desire is to get a better and proper house."
