"From my most recent transfer, I spent about KES 20,000 to proceed with building a new house which is almost completion. I had began building it with my first transferr which was insufficient since part of it was diverted to other use. I look forward to begin using it soon since the current one is too small to accommodate my family of 6. It has an additional room meant for my children's use hence they will always have plenty time to bond with us at night before they retire to bed. Previously, they had limited time with us because they were always spending in the neighbourhood. The rest of transfer went into paying school fees for my 2 children in secondary and 2 children in primary schools."

"Financial contains have always hindered my development. I own a shop but all my profit is used to pay school fees for my five children in boarding schools. I can not save any profit I get, thus I have no investment. The shop is the only source of income and all revenue from it is drained to food and school fees. I am stressed about venturing into a new business to generate income."

"I have seven children and we share the same structure. They have to seek shelter from neighbors when their father is around. I will use 30,000 KES to build a three-bedroom house where I can comfortably sleep with my children there. I will clear all school fees arrears for my 1 child at secondary school and 6 in primary school. With the remaining amount, I will buy 10 goats to rear as an investment for the future. I thank God for this golden opportunity in my life at my age."

"The biggest challenge is financial constraints. I have a sister I take care of who is sick ( has a terminal disease). For more than five years, she is sick and under my care. Seeking medical attention and affording medical treatment is the real challenge. She also has children who are under my care."

"I have been wishing to have a better bigger house but I have not been able to build one because of a lack of finances. I currently live in one grass-thatched house which is not only small but it is also getting old. Whenever I have visitors around, I do not have space to accommodate which makes me feel ashamed. Even my children, do not have space to sleep, they are forced to borrow accommodation from the neighbors which makes me feel like I have failed as a parent. I plan to use KES 50,000 to construct a two-bedroom wooden house. For the rest of the amount, I will construct a shop at the corner of my farm so it could be giving me income."

"I am living in a very small hut. My house is very small made of mud walls with earthen floor. I have been working hard doing charcoal business for the last 2 years in order to build a better house but invain. A hunger disaster eroded all my savings living me empty handed. Receiving this first transfer, I will build a 2 bedroom house with iron sheets roof and make this to be my kitchen. I will buy goats with the second transfers to keep as my family wealthy."

"Receiving this money means a reliable source of income for my household. This is because currently, I depend on charcoal burning which is earning me utmost 3000 KES per month, an income that is not enough to fully cater to our needs. With this cash grant, I am optimistic about starting a grocery to sell some vegetables and fruits, of which I am expecting high profit since there is no such kind of business in our village. I intend to spend my first transfer to purchase a second-hand motorbike to facilitate my movements to and from the market to buy the vegetables. My second transfer will help me to construct the kiosk and also to act as my capital. This will bring about a change in my livelihood since I will have the opportunity to settle with my family as I operate the business."
