"Acquiring a dairy cow has been a wish that I have had for years since I sold all the cows that I had to pay for my children's education. This has forced us to buy milk daily from vendors at a daily cost of KES 50 which is very costly since I do not have any source of income that enables me to buy milk daily. Receiving this money will be a relief to me since I will be able to buy a dairy cow that will supply my family with milk and cut the cost. It will enable me to also sell the milk and earn some money for buying food."

"My house fell one year ago and I had to convert my kitchen into a habitable room which is accommodating four of us. The other five had to seek refuge from their grandmother's house. I had already started building a two-bedroom house though I am now financial stuck as the money I get from either house construction or burning charcoal is never enough. I spend all of it on food. Receiving this money means using 40,000 KES to complete the house. I will also use the remaining amount to start a kiosk so that I can engage my wife who always is at home."

"My main occupation is livestock rearing but of late I have sold almost all my goats and cattle. It used to be the source of income to my family of nine but in the last one year due to the drought in the region, this occupation has been adversely affected. We lack enough money to cater for the daily needs for my children. On receiving this money transfer I plan to buy two cows and 10 goats at a total cost of 50000 KES. I believe through this investment my family will have a reliable source of income in paying school fees and also food at home. I will also set aside 15000 KES for school fees and the rest will be spent on food."

"Being a mother of five children, I have always wanted the best for them. This cannot be with no beddings. Many times I have been forced to seek shelter for them when my husband is home. This condition breaks me by the fact that I have to displace my children. I wished for this to come to a stop and thanks to this program. very soon this will come to pass."

"Applying for a loan in the banks is somewhat challenging since getting lump sum amounts requires someone to have cleared an existing loan. Sadly, I have a 1million loan with Imarisha Sacco that I applied to purchase land. It is a sigh of relief with Givedirectly's transfers for it means completing the rental houses I commenced constructing 1 month ago. I intend to use all the transfers towards this course. I will be grateful and appreciative of Givedirectly because we will have tenants hence an automatic income at the end of each month."

"Financial limitation is the biggest challenge we are currently facing. I work as a shopkeeper and earn an average amount of KES 8000 a month. This amount is inadequate to provide for my household needs as well as pay school fees for my children. I pay an approximate amount of KES 150000 per year for school fees. This has been so strenuous and demanding to an extent that I have sold out my three livestock to cater for this.Despite selling them ,I could not afford to fully settle the school fees amount hence I have arrears amounting to KES 20000.The lack of money is truly a bigger hindrance to progress in my household."

"I am a business lady with 4 children and my husband works as a sales representative within the neighboring firm. My business collapsed in 2020 after the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic and since then I have been struggling to restart this business. Receiving this money implies a restart of the business, I plan to use KES 100000 to accomplish this. The business has been the source of livelihood for this household and it is through it that we purchased these 2 acres of land in 2012.Because I have the required skills to run the business I fully believe that restarting it will enhance financial stability for the household."

"I am a middle-aged woman with 2 children. My work entails farm activities such as digging, planting , weeding and poultry keeping. These activities have been hampered by my health conditions in the past 3 years. In late 2019 I was diagnosed with a chronic disease of high blood pressure and this has caused weakness in my body.As a result working in my farm has become difficult hence leading to high dependence on my husband's income for the provision of the family needs .Initially I would supplement his income by providing for the family through the sale of farm produce but because of my health condition we fully depend on him."

"Receiving this money means food security and additional assets to my household. My husband and I depend on our children for provision due to our old age. Engaging in agricultural activities which is our main source of livelihood is currently difficult for us due to our ages. Buying a dairy cow will enable us to be food secure and hence better life for us. The important requirements for us now are food and good health. This will be facilitated by the nutritional milk we get from the cow ,the income earned from milk sale will also be utilized to buy other foodstuff in the household."
