"My husband is a consistent farmer and I am a businesswoman at a local shopping centre where I run a retail shop. Together, we have three children. Receiving money from GiveDirectly made me realise my goals in real-time. My immediate need was for me to purchase a dairy cow to reduce its cost daily. Therefore, I saw it fit to use KES 38,000 to buy a healthy cow. This was not possible before because of the financial constraints. Thereafter, I used the remaining amount in purchasing foodstuffs and other household items."

"Receiving money from GiveDirectly has made me to achieve my goal in a short time. Therefore, my new goal would be to purchase a dairy cow to relieve me of the milk expenses. I plan to realising this dream by saving up my from the casual jobs, though it would take time before the amount is complete."

"Investing in livestock has been my desire for a while. Besides buying a cow using the first transfer, I used KES 16800.00 of the second transfer to buy four goats. Luckily, all four goats are almost procreating. I opted to invest more in goats because they are cheaper compared to cows and they have ready markets. Being a parent to six children, four of them are in primary school. On that note, I opted to pay KES 8980.00 which catered for the school fee balances and extra three months up to October so that my children can concentrate on their studies. Thereafter, I bought three mattresses for my children because they used to sleep on sacks. The cost of the mattresses was KES 11000.00. I also tackled the unplanned activity of taking my mother to the hospital after falling sick. The sickness took KES 7000.00 although it is unfortunate that I lost her. For the remaining amount of money, I reserved it for the family's expenses."

"My new goal now is to save some money from the casual jobs that I always do to buy a dairy cow. This is because I always buy milk daily and this is so costly for me. I spent KES 50 per day on milk. Buying a dairy cow will m enable me to save the money that I could have used on buying milk for other household basic needs."

"In my opinion GiveDirectly did very well by giving us support in form of cash. This support gave all of us an opportunity to spend the money in the ways we thought would be of great benefit to us. Having bought a dairy cow and a piece of land brought so much joy in my life that has left me very grateful. Seeing what other people did differently as well makes me appreciate the more what GiveDirectly did to us."

"The cost of buying milk daily was very expensive, I use at least two litres daily which is sold at KES 80. My source of income is very little for me to be able to put up with such a lifestyle, I am a farmer and a mother of four children. Upon receiving my second transfer, I thought of purchasing a dairy cow worth KES 30,000 to cut down on the cost of buying milk daily. This was not possible before due to school fees and responsibilities and with my little income I could not afford to buy a cow. Thereafter, I went on to build a decent house for my children, I lack words to express my gratitude to the organization because my children have a comfortable place to sleep unlike before when they used to spend the night at my neighbour's place. I am forever grateful for the support that listed my living standards amazingly."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly has empowered everyone in my village. Words cannot express how grateful we are to have received the unconditional support that transformed our living standards, people have built houses, others bought cows and many more. I have not seen any loophole in GiveDrectly work."

"In my opinion GiveDirectly did very well by giving us an opportunity to spend the money in our own preferences. This freedom of choice was a game changer and brought out the best of GiveDirectly. Initially we have heard of supports from NGOs but the support that they normally give is mostly material support.Looking at the cows that I bought and even the clothes that I bought gives me so much joy as a beneficiary. I feel my interests, tastes and preferences were respected."

"My new goal is to be able to raise enough money through savings plan that we recently started. Having bought a dairy cow the money that we used to buy milk was diverted into a merry go round kitty and once this savings plan is complete, I will have amount exceeding KES 20000. Our plan is to use this money to buy an additional piece of land since the one we are currently staying in is too small. This shall result in more advanced farming and definitely a rise in income for us as a family and general improvements of our living standards as well."

"I run an eatery at a nearby shopping centre, I am a mother of five children. Owning a dairy cow was among the dreams that I had but unfortunately, I was unable to realise this goal due to financial constraints . Therefore, Upon the receival of my second transfer, I saw it fit to purchase a dairy cow, worth KES 30,000 so that I would be able to remember the good deeds that the organization did for us in future. Additionally, I paid school fees arrears for my children. Knowing that my children can comfortably study without any hiccups gives me peace of mind. I am so grateful for the support that has financially uplifted my living standards."
