How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I was able to build a house with my initial transfer which I am grateful for . Though I have other goals that I would wish to achieve, I had started a business with my second transfer and my goal is to be able to expand it to a bigger one. Therefore. I plan to realise this goal by working extra hard in my daily work and through good management.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has empowered everyone in my village. Words cannot express how grateful we are to have received the unconditional support that transformed our living standards, people have built houses, others bought cows and many more. I have not seen any loophole in GiveDrectly work.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The moment I received my second transfer, I saw it as a perfect opportunity for me to be able to start up a retail shop. I have always yearned for one but this was not possible due to financial constraints, I am a farmer and a mother of two children. Therefore I used KES 30,000 on initiating the business, Secondly, I paid the school fees arrears for my children where I used KES 10,000. Lastly, I bought foodstuffs with the remaining part of the transfer. Starting my own business has impacted my life greatly, thus I am grateful.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so much happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. I was at home at around that time and I was randomly checking my phone when I discovered that I had been sent money by GiveDirectly. I informed my family members who were equally very happy to have received the cash
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the piece of land that I have now paid fully for it. We always had the desire to own a piece of land but we have never been able to raise enough money to be able to do this.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used KES 27000 to pay for a piece of land and used another KES 23000 to buy two goats and food for family and clothes for my children. I now feel so much happy to have been part of the beneficiaries and for being able to buy a piece of land of my own.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means an increase in yeild of milk supply in my house. I am planning to buy another dairy cow going for KES 40000, this will produce around 8 litres of milk on a daily basis. I have been milking 4litres per day from the dairy cow I own, I have been selling the milk to the nearest milk milk dairy shop at KSH 35 per litre which earns me KES 140 per day which is not sufficient to cater for all my family needs like food and clothing. With an addition of another dairy cow and I will be able milk more milk which will enable me to sell 10litres of milk per day this will earn me KES 350 per day which means I enough money for the family needs The remaining 2litres will be for family consumption because have 2children under the age of 5years and milk is believed to be of high nutritive value to children and it's rich in protein and calcium.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Owning a decent house for my family has been our dream come true. Six months ago we managed to complete the two-bedroom house we have been building for the last 2years. This has brought us so much happiness and has made us more comfortable being at home.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My husband was diagnosed with diabetis 4months ago, this has been a big challenge for us. He is constantly visiting the hospital for medical checkups which is costly, we spend KES 1500 per month ln his medication. This has drained us financially as a family since we do not have a stable source of income. I depend on dairy farming which has not been sufficient to cater to all the family's needs.
