The remaining balance l spent to start a business of selling domestic goods which now doing well, that l am able to put food on the table without too much strangling as compared to before."

"I wouldn't have achieved much in life. I had a small house which was not comfortable since it used to leak during rainy days. That is no longer the case now that I managed to build a better house. I have also started a poultry project which I am hopeful will grow and generate more income."

"My biggest hardship has been inadequate finances. During the drought period of 2016/2017 I had 30 cows and only 4 survived. Being my only source of livelihood and with 10 children to look after, life became very hard and I was no longer able to sufficiently provide food, education and other basic needs for my family. To date, my husband and I are still struggling to get back on our feet. "

Samuel
received a $541 initial payment.
"The biggest difference is that I am now more peaceful than before. This is because the burdens that were weighing me down have now been settled. My sons have a place to rest at night that is my kitchen during the day. I have also managed to pay my wife's bridal price which was a headache whenever I remembered I had not paid."

Joseah
received a $522 second payment.
"I start by thanking GD for the financial boost because our family life has significantly changed. My life is indeed different than it would have been if I never received the transfer because GD cash has greatly help us resolve the otherwise regular family wrangles that revolved around matters finance. Unlike before when I could hardly meet the daily needs of my family, I am currently more confident that I can offer more support and care to the family with regards to basic needs and demands. We have adequate food for consumption and funds for running up the varied household needs and demands for instance paying school fees and purchasing clothes."

"Being a single mother, i struggle alot in providing for my children. I am a vegetable vendor whereby i buy vegetables from other peoples farms and go sell them in the market. The money i get in turn is hardly enough to cater for my family needs especially paying school fees for my children hence this is the greatest hardship i am facing."

"Receiving this money means i will be able to engage in an income generating activity. Being too old to open and run a business, i prefer to invest part of the transfers in livestock which does not consume much energy. This is also because my husband is a herder and will be able to take good care of the animals. With the rest, i will pay part of fees and do shopping for my grandson who is supposed to join secondary school this month but has not reported yet due to lack of finances. I believe when he succeeds in his education, he will be of much help to me in future. "
