How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I start by thanking GD for the financial boost because our family life has significantly changed. My life is indeed different than it would have been if I never received the transfer because GD cash has greatly help us resolve the otherwise regular family wrangles that revolved around matters finance. Unlike before when I could hardly meet the daily needs of my family, I am currently more confident that I can offer more support and care to the family with regards to basic needs and demands. We have adequate food for consumption and funds for running up the varied household needs and demands for instance paying school fees and purchasing clothes.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well because it does not discriminate against anyone one in whatever grounds, that is, the enrollment process is fair. Moreover, GD staff are great because respond well with courtesy to all questions asked. Thus, I find nothing that GD does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on purchasing 26 pieces of iron sheet worth 16900 KES because I was intending to correct the badly shaped roof of my house. Though the repair is yet to be done, I look forward to having a smartly roofed house and thus regain prestige from my family and the immediate community. Additionally, I used the transfer to prepare my farm, buy maize and bean seeds and planted so as to attract adequate food for my family in the future. Finally, I used some of the transfers on buying 3 sacs of maize for consumption since we had no more in the store, and subsequently we have enough food for our family. I greatly thank GD.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that I am no longer going for casual jobs but working on my farm. I am always happy looking after my cow and working in my shamba as I have resources to spend on farming which I like the most.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I got the payment from GD I felt so happy and felt at ease as I have been struggling to get money for use through casual jobs. Sometimes I got to do harder jobs just to get money for food and other expenditure.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent a large part of my first transfer to buy a cow, and spent some part to built a poultry house. I still have KES 11000 which am planning to spend on buying chicken rearing for eggs.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship in my life is when I finished my secondary school education and I lacked money to continue with my education. My dream was shuttered

The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I wake up happy and ready to start my duties
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money mean that I will achieve my dream of having a successful business- buying and selling sheep. With this business in place I will use the profits to build a house for my family and educate my children
