"I was awoken by a message notification at around 0058 hours and to my surprise, it was a Mpesa message notifying that I had received money from GD. I broke the news to my husband who was awoken by the notification too and he was also so happy. I was filled with joy and hope of adding more to my farm and a cow was my first option was to buy a dairy cow since we could get milk for family consumption and calves to sell in future to meet rising family financial needs."

"The biggest difference in my life is the far I am in the process of building a new house. We are unemployed couple hence we primarily depend on subsistence farming and casual jobs to raise a living for our family. We have always spent most of our surpluses on our children school fees. It has been our daily goal to have a bigger and more decent house to cater for the growing family needs since the one we had has been too small hence making it uncomfortable to stay in with my children. I used the entire transfer to purchase building materials and am now certain with the quantity of materials I have that soon I will have my house built. I am soon going to give my children a comfortable space to have their private studies, to live in and a decent house to comfortably welcome my visitors whenever I have unlike before."

Sidi
enrolled.
"Financial inadequacy is my biggest struggle in life. As casual labourers, burning charcoal to survive, my husband and I do not earn much. This has hindered our ability to provide food, quality education, clean water and other basic needs for our family. It has also continuously dimmed my hope of owning my own house because we currently have to share the two rooms we call home between me, my co-wife, husband and 8 children. "

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I managed to buy four goats. I feel proud and ambitious because the goats will multiply and help me during emergencies. People in our area value such animals because they usually come in handy in times of need. Usually, the wealth of a person is usually measured depending on the flock of cows and sheep they have. I am happy because I will soon be among the people counted in that category. It is a matter of time before I earn the envied title the same way as my villagers. When they increase in number, I can sell some and used the amount on taking care of our pressing needs as a family."

"My daily life has changed in that, I treated my sick wife and paid my children's tuition which has given me a peaceful mind. Life used to be difficult since I had to spread the little income I would make to settle a series of needs and make loan repayments."
