How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is totally different than how it would have been had I not received the transfer in that, I have been able to expand my fairy farming project. Due to this, I will be able to use the income from this project to pay school fees for my children. Also, my family will always have enough milk for our consumption.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well by giving us a financial aid and I do not see anything that they did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought a heifer and sheep as a way of investing mg second transfer. This are assets to me that I can rely on in case of a financial crisis. Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest different my daily life it the happiness that the cow I bought using part of the transfer has brought to my life. We currently have enough milk from our farm for consumption unlike before when I used to buy little expensively to help us prepare a cup of tea for each one of us in the family. I currently save what I could have spent on milk and am hopeful that my cow will multiply in future hence will have more calves that I can sell to meet both basic needs and other financial needs arising in future.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was awoken by a message notification at around 0058 hours and to my surprise, it was a Mpesa message notifying that I had received money from GD. I broke the news to my husband who was awoken by the notification too and he was also so happy. I was filled with joy and hope of adding more to my farm and a cow was my first option was to buy a dairy cow since we could get milk for family consumption and calves to sell in future to meet rising family financial needs.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I have a goal in life of giving my children a better future through education and I have always struggled to invest so that I can be able to pay fees for them. I spent KES35000 of the transfer on buying a cow to add to a heifer I had. In addition to daily milk I have for my family consumption, I am sure that Soon it will multiply hence will have calves to sell in the future to meet my children fee and other financial needs. Having been adversely affected by drought in our area, we had run short of food in our store hence I spent KES800 on my family food and the remaining amount I spent on both personal and other household basic needs and Items like bedding since what we had was torn and worn out.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy a donkey and some sheep.I have alwqys wanted to own a donkey to help me with my firewood business. With this donkey I will be able to transport firewood worh Sh 600 daily to the nearest market and this will ensure a daily income for my family.I will also buy some sheep as a way of storing the money which I will later sell when my children join secondary school
What is the happiest part of your day?
Early in the morning as my children leave for school,I leave for a nearby farm to work.At the farm,I am assigned jobs ranging from weeding, ploughing and harvesting. There are days that the workers at the farm are many and hence there is no work for all of us.On these days,I will not have anything to bring home to my children. When am lucky to secure a job,I know that my family will have a good meal at the end of the day and this makes me very happy
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have always wished to be able to provide all the basic needs that my family requires. This has proved to be a challenge because I do not have a source of income.I depend on odd jobs that pay very little and cannot sustain my family. This is the biggest hardship I have faced.
