"Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house. The one that I am using currently leaks badly. I just sleep in it because I have no option but to endure. I also hope to buy a cow that can reproduce and provide for me milk. With this, I will be able to take care of future eventualities. "

"The money has enabled me to purchase eight goats which I am currently rearing in my homestead. The goats are easy to maintain and our area is favourable for rearing them. I never thought of having any livestock because my financial status could not allow. I thank GiveDirectly for helping me to acquire these precious assets. My aim is to keep them and let them mature, reproduce and increase in number. Having them is a source of wealth which I can rely on in case of any financial crisis. This to me is the biggest difference in my daily life."

"I'm planning to use my transfer on building a iron roofed house. The house I currently occupy is dilapidated and the roof is damaged by the lizards which have sought shelter in the thatch. I was able to secure my land back and have full control over it because I spent the transfer to pay off the debt I owed the money lender. Previously, I had a small portion of land to farm on and the crop production was very low resulting to continuous famine since the food produced couldn't sustain the wellbeing of my family."

"I live a very happy and peaceful life after getting this money. I was able to add more livestock to the ones I had since I solely depend on oxen for ploughing. Secondly, I was able to get back my land and hire more so that I can farm on a large scale. In addition to that, I managed to acquire grass for thatching my house which almost collapsed due to heavy rains. Previously, I did not have enough land to farm on therefore I could depend on borrowing farmland. Lastly, We were affected with famine but after getting the money I managed to feed my family using this money."

"Early and timely preparations for farming has been a challenge to me for many seasons. As a farmer, I was using only hoes to cultivate and this would take us days to finish just an acre. I could not afford to hire a tractor and the only alternative to this is to hire the oxen from neighbors. Although they are economical, practical and readily available, hiring them was expensive to me. I could not plough my whole acreage. The money from GiveDirectly has enabled me to buy my own pair of oxen. From now onwards, I will no longer be hiring from anybody, instead, I will be hiring to them at a fee. Also, the pair will enable me to plough a bigger acreage timely to increase food production. Owning this pair of oxen to me is the biggest difference in my daily life as it will ensure food security to the family as a result of large acreage."

"I expect that in the next six months, we will have completed the plastering of our house so that the entire house would look better than it does now with only the outer part plastered. This will help get rid of the dust we currently have to struggle to keep away and improve the general cleanliness of the house. I also expect a bumper harvest that will last my family for several months. Joining Acre Fund enabled me to access quality seeds and fertilizer which should result in good harvests."

"The biggest hardship I face is lack of domestic animals for marrying a wife to my son. My son is always burdening me about getting married but I can not afford since Iam too poor. The woman he wanted to marry was taken back by her parents claiming that , they can not afford thier daughter staying in poor family. This has kept me out of peace with my son."

"When I receive this money, I will embark on commercialized Agriculture. In this I will hire big chunks of land and plant where I will plant Cassava, maize, beans, green grams and others that will be favourable in our soils. We are hopeful that this will be aprofitable venture that will see us have high income. I will also use part of the money to build a house because currently grass is expensive. A grass thatched house needs routine changing of the roof which is expensive."

"Completing plastering my entire house will be the best thing to happen to my family and I hope that I will have accomplished that in the next six months so that I can relax knowing that I spent GD transfers on important stuff even long after the project is over."
