"For a long time I have depended on my friend's cows to sustain my family with milk as source of income. Livestock play a major role in children's education in my community. Now that I anticipate to get money from GiveDirectly, I am planning to buy four heifers which will provide me with milk to fend for my family in two year's time. Moreover, decent housing contribute to the wellbeing of every child. This is why my ambition is to discard one of my old leaking houses so as to construct a better one for my children. "

"Every graduate in my community would fancy a job at the county government. Definitely not my husband, a casual, whom after last month became a former employee of the county government! He was the main provider in our home and when his salary delayed for six months in a row, I was faced with challenges after another. A poultry project I had initiated stalled, but what broke my heart is when my daughter had to drop out of a private boarding school to enrol in a government school due to pile of arrears. Besides, we did not eat well for a long time. Now that he has quit the job doesn't make it any better. My worry is that my children may drop out of school altogether and we may lack a balanced diet. This is the biggest hardship I've faced in my life. "

"In the next six months, I expect my life to change in that, I will have established my own home with the upcoming transfers which I intend to use on purchasing building materials on a monthly basis. Currently, I stay in my in law's place but I feel that there is no freedom most especially to grow financial because of the restrictions that are in place like coming home late after work."

"Purchasing milk for my tea business makes the operational cost very high. I have always desired to have an alternative source of milk to lower the costs. I will therefore purchase a dairy cow for that purpose. Apart from this, I will constantly supply milk in my village and in the nearest town centres of Bamba and Kidemu. This will mean an increase in my income, where I will be able to save some money for the future. I will also construct a house for my children because my single roomed house is too small for the eight of us. Besides, we do not have much privacy sleeping with our children in the same place."

"In the next six months, I expect my life to change in that, I will have added more animals and that the few that I recently bought would have grown. I also expect that the production from my farm for both milk and eggs would have improved and that it would lead to improved profits from proceeds after the sales. I pray that all these will help me improve my financial strength, that I can look after my family well. I expect our general lifestyle to have improved for the better."

"Receiving this money will enable me to complete paying schoolfees for my threee children in primary school who have been sent home due to fee arrears. I also intend to buy two dairy cattle to boost my income upon selling milk and this will also help me save the amount i usually spend buying milk for my family consumption"

"My expectation in the near future is to buy an ox to add to the three oxen that I currently have. Since I usually till my land using oxen in order to reduce the cost of farming, the three that I currently have cannot do it alone hence I am forced to borrow one ox from a neighbor but it comes with a lot of conditions and a cost to it. The habit of borrowing an ox every time I want to till my land does not ogre well with me and hence my desire to have one of my own. Once I have this, it will be easier for me to plan my farm well and even reduce the cost of farming and thus maximizing on proceeds from my farm."

"My family operates on a budget of 2000 shillings a month. This amount is not sufficient to meet all our needs. Sometimes I overlook other needs and focus on the most sensitive one like food. My children do not have enough clothes and I am even struggling to get them school uniform. Most of the times they spend up to two weeks without going to school because of fee arrears. Currently I have a debt of 700 shillings but I do not know when I will be able to clear it."
