Emmanuel
received a $450 second payment.
"My life is different in that I was able to pay pride price to my in-laws. In addition, I feel uplifted when I see the cow and goats in my home since these give me money when sold. Before, my in-laws were too demanding. I always hid from them because I hadn't paid pride price. I had no asset to sell incase you needed money. This has changed, thanks to GiveDirectly transfers. "

Betty
received a $450 second payment.
"My life is different since I am currently employed because I was able to start up an income generating activity (buy and sell silver fish, tomatoes, onions and g.nuts) that is enabling me to provide for my family's day to day needs. Prior to receiving this money, I had to do casual labor in other people's farms to raise money to cater for my family.
In addition to this, although it was using the first transfer, I am delighted that I was able to build which would not be the case if I had never received this money. This has relieved me from the issue of looking for grass that is hard to get and a leaking roof always."

Martin
received a $468 initial payment.
"My daily life has changed for the better in that, I have been in position to acquire an ox that is going to ease my agriculture and I believe my harvest is going to increase. In addition, I have owned a bicycle that has facilitated my movement. Before receiving this money, I hired oxen to plough my piece of land and I used to plant crops late because the oxen owners first prioritize their farms that often resulted to poor yields. I walked on foot to the hospital because I lacked a means of transport ."

Nehemiah
received a $450 second payment.
"The greatest change I have got in my life is that, my business has tremendously grown. Before receiving these transfers, I only had a capital of Ugx 2000000 but it has increased to Ugx 6000000. This in turn has increased the profits I make and of which profits I inject in other businesses like brick making hence making me financially stable."

Sam
received a $450 second payment.
"My life is much different in that I constructed a two roomed permanent house. This is my only happiness and joy. I would have died without ever owning a permanent house. Previously, I was sleeping under a thatched house which was difficult to maintain. I had no other income generating activity besides agriculture which is unpredictable."

Jennifer
received a $450 second payment.
"My life is better in that, I cultivated enough food crops and started a business for myself. Before, I cultivated on one acre of land which couldn't yield for me enough food. In addition, I no longer rely on agriculture for everything because my shop generates for me income that I use for meeting other basic needs like medical."
