"Recieving this money means I will be able to build a small family house since the cost of maintaining a grass thatched house is high. The balance of the money will be used to pay off a land debt. We had to morgage off part of the land to make sure my spouse is released from police. My spouse committed some offense and he was arrested so we had to morgage off part of the land so as to get money for him to be released from police but instead we were not succesful. We got money from the person who willingly assisted us as he partially owns the land."

"Receiving this money means that I will be able to build an iron-roofed house. Iam of an advance with no energy and money that is required in the costs of maintaining a grass thactged house. Iam forced to sleep the current one in it's leaking nature with alot of coldness hence I fall sick constanlty. Givedirectly money I spend on building a better house that can provide comfortable accommodation and thus there will be less chances of me falling sick."

Mwenda
received a $533 initial payment.
"My life has been totally different ever since I expanded my kiosk. The shop was our major source of income since my spouse is jobless. It is the only business we were depending on. It reached a time when we consumed the profits because our needs were more than our source of income. We could not restock the shop. We were forced to take a loan so that we can boost the business. Finally, we had to close down the kiosk because we could not pay the loan and still cater to our needs. I am so thankful to Give Directly for financial support. I believe they were God sent. We had reached a rock bottom and I never that the organization was sincere in the first place. There is now hope for the business being successful. It is now doing well since there is enough stock and money to support it until it becomes stable. I am glad because I am able to pay school fees for my child and comfortably cater for other basic needs."

"The biggest difference in my life ever since I started receiving transfers from Give directly is that I am now ambitious and hopeful in life. The financial support I got from Give Directly has enabled me to buy a few goats. First, they take a shorter time to mature to add on that they reproduce mostly twice a year. These are some of the major reasons why I choose to rear them. I am hopeful they will make me wealthier within a short period of time. I am sure that when I later sell the offsprings I will be able to achieve most of my goals. One of my goals is to sell the offsprings and buy a pair of oxen. The oxen will help me in my farming activities in the future.
This means I will also be able to make a living from the farm produce since I will now be doing farming on a large scale because I have the means to till my land."

Wilson
received a $22 sixteenth payment.
"In the next six months, my life will have changed from how it is now because I will have bought a water tank for my family. My wife will no longer be walking for a long distance looking for water for domestic use. In addition to this, I believe that I will have bought a heifer. I will be saving the money I will be getting through the sale of milk so that I can use it to achieve this. Increasing the number of dairy cows has always been my dream as it will lead to an increase in my income through the sale of the surplus."
