Safina
received a $531 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is the fact that I have finally been able to buy a dairy cow. This is something I have been looking forward to achieving considering that I have been buying milk for household consumption, something that has been very expensive for us. This was particularly difficult for me considering that I entirely depended on casual labour to raise income that could be used to meet the basic household needs and which sometimes was hard to find. There are times when we had to go without breakfast owing to the fact that I did not find any job the previous day and it was so demoralizing and embarrassing as well. During such times, I often felt like I had failed in my sole responsibility as a parent. We currently have enough milk for my family and a surplus for sale and this has greatly improved our living standards as a family. I also used part of the income to buy farm inputs and hybrid seeds and we are looking forward to having an even bigger harvest this season which will make us food sufficient and empower us to meet other family expenses. My children are a happy lot because I was able to pay their school fees in time and this has led to an improvement in their performance a lot compared to the previous and past terms. Nothing could make me more proud as a parent than being able to give the best to my children."

Faith
received a $22 nineteenth payment.
"With the great plans we have put in place, I expect to see my family moving into the new house in the next six months. I am currently working hard to see that I find other sources of income which will boost our saving plan towards the construction of a new house."

Victor
received a $22 seventeenth payment.
"Currently, I'm riding someone's motorcycle to earn income. I love the job but it's only that it doesn't pay well because we have to share the profit with the owner. Whatever I earn can't comfortably meet my family's needs. Therefore, I'm planning to save some of the money I'll be receiving from GiveDirectly and add to my savings then purchase my motorcycle. This will assure me of an improved income because I won't be sharing the profit with anyone thus I'll be able to meet most of my family's needs with ease.es."

Toweet
received a $22 nineteenth payment.
"In the next six months, I expect to have completed and stabilized the poultry project. At the moment we are planning an expansion plan which will at least accommodate other 100 birds within the cage. This expansion should take us at least three months and in the fourth months we'll be bringing in the chicks. We have an intention to move a bit faster since we started it late and we also hope to pick another important project ahead."

Gaudensia
received a $22 seventeenth payment.
"The current kitchen I have is dusty and I feel it's risky because our area is prone to jiggers. This puts us in the risk of being affected by jiggers. I, therefore, have the plans to save some of the coming transfers and use them later to purchase sand and cement for plastering the house."

"It was around 8 a.m. when my neighbor informed me that GiveDirectly had started sending their transfers. I immediately went to our shopping centers where I had taken my phone for charging. My heart was filled with joy as I read my M-pesa message as I knew that I would be able to achieve a lot using the money."

Selly
received a $22 nineteenth payment.
"My expectation in the near future is to fully live in the new house that I had put up but is incomplete. I am currently putting aside some savings to allow me to buy some few building materials and finish building the house. Once this is done, then I can move in fully. I expect that our state of living will improve in the near future."

Beatrice
received a $22 eighteenth payment.
"I expect a number of changes to take place in my life because for one I will have accumulated a number of savings in the table banking group which I will then use to meet my financial needs which include making renovations in my house as well as having enough money to pay school fees for my kids for the coming year."

Daniel
received a $22 eighteenth payment.
"My life will changes because I will have accumulated some cash which I use to buy more domestic animals such as goats and more sheep which I will be a boost to my animal farming project. The advantage of having these animals is that I can be able to sell them out in the event that I run out of finances in the unforeseeable future."
