Grace
received a $39 twelfth payment.
"I spent my transfer on paying my house rent. It was time to pay at the time when I received the transfer and did not want to use my business resources to pay the rent. The rest of the transfer I used on buying food for my family. This was just to add more to the stock we had. I always prefer buying food once in bulk which is very cheaper than buying on a daily basis."

Winfred
received a $361 second payment.
"Before the transfers, I did not have any source of income which I could rely on. I used to struggle through casual work to ensure I meet my family needs. In most cases, I would be overwhelmed by needs because I did not have the money to meet all on time. I felt I was struggling a lot and I really needed help. When I received my transfer, I first thought of a better way to invest so that we could have sustainable income long after GD transfers have stopped. That's why I decided to start the business. I am glad the struggles have reduced greatly since I started the business I started with GD transfers."

Penina
received a $361 second payment.
"I spent part of my transfer to boost my business. I am a tailor. The business was not doing well because I did not have a variety of materials that my clients wanted. I am glad that the business is doing well after adding new stock. I also did shopping in my house and finally decided to keep the remaining amount of money as savings for an emergency."

Francis
received a $49 eighth payment.
"With my current shoe business doing better than I ever expected, I have plans of expanding it by opening another sales point that can be run by my wife who is currently jobless. I have different jobs that I depend on, but the business is the major one among them and I hope that someday I can completely depend on it and quit the other side hustles that I have. This can however only be possible after I open my wife another place of her own so that I can manage the current shop. This will also bring us more income as a family and enable us to easily take care of our needs."

Wiliter
received a $22 twentieth payment.
"In the next six months, I believe that I would have harvested cabbages which I now have on a seedbed. The seeds which I manage to plant with the money which I received from Give Directly. The money which I would earn from it would enable me to cater to my household expenses and pay school fees for my children."

Julius
received a $22 twentieth payment.
"In the next six months, I would have constructed a house and my children will have a secure and a good place to live. This would be the biggest change in my life as I have been yearning to build a house without success due to lack of finances."

Nelson
received a $22 twentieth payment.
"In the next few months, I will be going back to school and receiving this transfer would enable me to pay for my accommodation. Again, the crops which I had managed to plant with part of the transfer from Give Directly will be ready for harvesting. This would enable me to raise money for paying for my school accommodation fees and also buy a sheep for rearing. Having a sheep will be a great achievement as this would enable me to have more livestock in future as it reproduces."

Amina
received a $39 eleventh payment.
"I had a business before, but it collapsed four months ago after I encountered family issues that forced me to close it up. Now that I am stable enough, I have plans of reviving the business with part of the money I receive monthly from Give Directly after making the monthly savings in our table banking group. The business does not require much capital and I know the money will be enough. It has been tough having no source of income and solely depending on my husband's little income for all of our family needs which makes it a matter of urgency to have a supplementary source of income to ease the burden he is currently bearing."
