"Receiving this money means I will be able to pay bride price to my parents in-law. This is the only opportunity I have to clear the debt that has been bothering me. With this, I will have full authority over my wife and security will be guaranteed. I will have blocked access for other men."

"Receiving this money means owning additional acre of farm land. I own only an ace of farm land but it is not enough. When I cultivate crops on that land, I will be able to sell part of it and the other will be eaten as food for the household. "

"Givedirectly transfers I will spend on completing my iron-roofed house. I have a big number of children to pay their fees hence can not finish pastering and putting avarander on my house. The rain water is washing a way the wall and may collapse If not attended soon. The house will definitely look nice and strong once it's completed and may stay longer."

"Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy oxen and ox-plough for ploughing. My household depends on crop farming as amajor income generating activity but I just borrow oxen from relatives during planting seasons. This has resulted in to low crop production since I benefit from ploughing at later stages of the season. The oxen once I own will facilitate easy and ealier cultivation and planting hence it may lead to increase in crop production. My household members will be eating and selling some of the produce for providing other basic needs."

"Receiving this money means I can build an iron roofed house. My plot of land is in the urban center which is developing rapidly, so it is inevitable for me to build a permanent structure instead of the thatched which is on it currently."

"Depending on agriculture has been very difficult because I don't get much from it.I am a subsistence farmer who cultivates one acre of land. From the one acre I get not more than 5 sacks of maize and 2 sacks of beans. This is to serve as food for the family and again for sale. This is usually not enough to sustain other needs;the biggest headache being school fees. The low yield is attributed to unpredictable weather patterns and crop diseases.I have 8 children and I struggle a lot taking care of their needs."

"I have never been able to construct a decent shelter for my family. My desire has been to have one but this has never materialized due to poverty condition that I have experienced for long. The house I am currently living in is very small, leaking with a polythene rooftop something that has forced me to spend sleepless night especial at this time when we are receiving long rains in our area. Receiving this money means a decent house for my family as I am planning to spend $300 in building one. I will use the remaining amount to start a small food outlet in the nearby town centre."
