Martin
received a $39 twelfth payment.
"I ventured into photography/videography business years back and has always entirely depended on it financially. This kind of job is seasonal and not always available which is why I had a very tough time taking care of my needs especially paying rent. Ever since I received the transfer, I have had an easy time paying my bills especially my rent which was the biggest challenge before due to my little income."

"Imagine seeing your talent come to a halt because of sickness. For the last one decade until a few years ago I was a renowned artist in Kapoleseroi and its environs. Most of my work involved decorating people's houses, furniture and painting sign posts for institutions especially schools and churches. I gave up my talent last year due to headaches and allergic reaction to paint. Helplessly witnessing a talent that educated my children come to an end was so devastating. My worry is that my life especially with young children to educate is going to be hard. "

"I have been buying a litre of milk everyday for the last three years since we do not own a cow. This has cost us more than $9 every month. When I receive this money $350 of my first transfer will be used to buy a dairy cow. This is a frugal way of saving money so as to be used for other domestic needs like food.
Because I want this cow to be productive enough, the remaining amount will be used to put up a dairy shed and store for the cow's food."

Kaka
received a $517 second payment.
"I was having a plot of land and my plan was to build a rental house. This was an investment that I have been planning to do for long, but due to financial constraints, I could not execute it. When I received my second transfer, I added to my savings and purchased enough building materials that include ironsheets, building poles and paid for the labour. I was able to construct and complete five rooms which I am hoping to get some tenants soon. Through this investment, I am sure of getting a monthly rental income which besides helping for my family needs, I can as well look for other viable opportunities to invest more."

Salama
received a $517 second payment.
"My husband who is the sole breadwinner, was involved in an accident and suffered multiple fractures and for sure I was helpless, the medical bill had accumulated to a huge amount, I nearly sold some of my home assets to raise money for my husband to be treated. I thank GiveDirectly for their coming renewed the hope in me again because after receiving my first and second transfer, I paid the medical bill and my husband has now recovered. Had it not been the financial support, I would have struggled alot to raise the required amount to cover the medical expenses."

received a $517 second payment.
"The transfer enabled me to build a new decent house. I was previously living in a small Hut that was grass thatched. Through this money, I was able to purchase building materials which include iron sheets, building poles, nails and also paid the mason for his job. My life is different because I now live in new iron roofed house. In addition, I also bought some goats which to me are assets that I can readily depend on in case of any financial challenges. I would not have acquired all these had it not been GiveDirectly coming to my aid."

Janet
received a $517 second payment.
"My life is currently different in that these transfers have enabled me to fulfill some of my greatest needs, that if I was to fulfill them at my own cost, then it would have taken me years to accomplish them. Firstly, I was living in a small house with no hopes of upgrading to a better house. However, I am now comfortably in my new spacious and iron roofed house, having managed to purchase adequate building materials through this money. Secondly, I acquired a new sewing machine to help me work effectively in my tailoring shop. This has helped me to serve many customers and also earn an extra income. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for enabling me to achieve all these."

Sidi
received a $517 second payment.
"Before GiveDirectly came to enroll us, I was sheltering in a small grass thatched Hut. Were it not for GiveDirectly supporting us financially, then I would still be living in that old grass thatched hut. As at now, I can attest that my life is different because I am now living in an iron roofed house. I managed to purchase adequate building materials which include ironsheets, timber, building poles and constructed a new decent house. In addition, I also bought livestock which include goats and a cow. I am expecting them to increase in number, so that I can sell the offspring to help me in case of a financial need."
