Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the feeling of being safe. Getting this financial support from GiveDirectly has given me self pride and confidence in my community. However, before getting this money, I was so vulnerable that at times I feared appearing in gathering as I felt so belittled given my position as one who depended on casual labour to sustain my family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I was extremely happy. This is because this money came at the time I was due to deliver and it really helped a great deal then.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of my transfer for shopping a few thing that I needed at the time I was going to deliver.
I spent another part of my first transfer to buy a cow at Ugx 300000.
I then bought some household items such as a bed, mattress, utensils, clothing for my entire family, and stocking food stuff for feeding my family.
I went ahead on hiring farm land at Ugx 300000.
I paid up a pending debt at Ugx 200000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means owning additional acre of farm land. I own only an ace of farm land but it is not enough. When I cultivate crops on that land, I will be able to sell part of it and the other will be eaten as food for the household.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the noon time when I have come back from the garden, cooked food and eaten. It's the time wen I am resting and trying to figure out how the evening will be.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I face in my life is that I do not own enough farm land in order to facilitate crop cultivation. The one acre that I own is small and can not sustain the family both in terms of providing food and selling part of it in order to meet other household needs like medical treatment, buying clothes, to mention.
