"We do not have a proper house as the one we live in is small, dilapidated and really poor. And then it leaks badly every time it rains which really frustrates me big time"

"I am a housewife who depends on my husband who does casual jobs at our nearby center. His wages are not enough to sustain all our needs such as shelter. He always makes 350 shillings in a day and it's not guarantee. Therefore, lack of a good source of income is our biggest hardship."

"My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I used to do small grocery business at the market. The amount of profit that I get from this business is so small and Cannot meet all the basic needs including paying school fees for my children. I used to walk up very early in the morning to go to market get the grocery. I could not get enough time to spend with my family members. Currently because I have cleared all the school fees for my children I no longer do much of this job rather devote much of my time on my farm for planning. My family now have enough food to eat and also sell the surplus to earn an income to meet other basic household needs. My children could be sent home to collect the school fees and this was affecting the performance. I am so happy because the performance has improved so much. Give directly helped me to over come this challenges. My business is also doing so well and Iam pretty sure that I will pay next term school fees."

"My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought a water tank. I used to walk for a long distance to get clear water for drinking and for domestic used. This was taking much of my time which I could have used to do other chores. During the rainy season it's so slippery and this is so risky and one can likely fall down and get injured. My grandchild usually helps but but this is after school. When I received the second transfer I bought a water tank for storing clear water for domestic and for my cows. This has reduce the amount of time that I could used to look for water. I am planning to start a horticulture farming because I have enough water to water it. I will be in a position to have enough vegetables for the family and sell the surplus at the market to earn an income to meet other basic household needs. I am so grateful for the support."

"I still hustle to earn a living at my age. The job that keeps me going is harvesting sisal reeds for sale. Almost everybody in this village practises it and it's slowly losing market. The earnings are not so sufficient and I cannot meet my needs fully. In this erra I still use the ancient bed because I cannot even afford a matress. I can therefore say lack of enough money to take care of myself is my biggest hardship."

"My life is currently different from how it would have been had I not received the transfer in that if it was not for the transfers my children would still be sleeping in the kitchen which they shared with the chicken too. Seeing them sleep in a conducive environment makes me proud."
