"I came into this village about a year ago following my husband from my home village seeking a good place to farm since pieceworks were scarce there. This money will assist us to build our own house too as this one belongs to my in-laws. The remaining money shall be used to buy household items to help us in food preparation and afford a better sleep such as pots, plates, mattress and beddings. These will make our lives better and we shall be worrying about other ways of making money to sustain ourselves since these needs have been found."

"I was just hearing rumours about this project and when I heard you were coming to our village I was so excited. I intend to use the money from this program to build a much better house for my family as the one we currently live in is grass thatched and was built using mud. I wish to build one with bricks and iron sheets with a cement floor"

"My house is just braving the strong wind of our area and I am always worried that it may collapse anytime. I have wished to construct a decent one but due to financial challenges, this has never been possible to me. Receiving this money means a better house for me because I plan to spend utmost $300 of my first transfer to have the house constructed. The remaining amount of the first disbursement will help me to buy a modern bed and a mattress to replace the old ones which never give me nice sleep. On the other hand, I intend to start livestock keeping that will help me in the future whenever needs arise. I, therefore, plan to use $450 on my second transfer to buy 3 indigenous dairy cows that will provide me with milk to sell and for my consumption. The remaining amount will support me to buy some very basic needs like food."

"As a woman of my age, I never imagined engaging myself as a charcoal burner. Due to financial instability, I have no choice but to involve myself in doing this strenuous work to earn a living. Therefore, financial instability is the biggest hardship that I have ever faced in my life."
