Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 9 o'clock, I was in my house resting because I was sick when I received my transfer. Because of I was not feeling well the phone was with my helper. My helper notify me that I had received the transfer which I had been anticipating. I was so excited after receiving my transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is we are living happy life, after acquiring a piece of land in a safer place.I will no longer worry about the safety of my family members once I relocate.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent the transfer to purchase 2.5 ache of land for $250. This is because that place we had being living for all those years did not belong to us, we had borrow from our neighbour. Despite the fact that it doesn't belong to us it is far away from neighbours and it has a lot of wild animals like elephants. I also purchase 14 iron sheets for $120 which I will use to construct a house for my family once we relocated to the new place. I save the remaining amount to assist me in the construction of the house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My longing has been to build a 2 room semipermanent house because the one we are sheltering in is almost collapsing and I share it with my 3 boys who are almost 18 years old. Due to financial constraints, this dream has never materialized. Receiving this money means good house for my family. I am planning to spend 70,000 shillings on the construction. This is going to enable us leave a decent house and it is going to retain my dignity especially from my children. According to our culture, children who are 15 years above should have a separate structure. Other than that, I will spend the remaining amount to renovate the walls of the house which we are currently in so that my sons can stay in.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Evening is my happiest part of the day. This is because I always prepare a meal and enjoy it with my family especially my husband who is always out during the day so that he can provide for our needs e.g food.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I am a housewife who depends on my husband who does casual jobs at our nearby center. His wages are not enough to sustain all our needs such as shelter. He always makes 350 shillings in a day and it's not guarantee. Therefore, lack of a good source of income is our biggest hardship.
