"My ambition in life is to be a livestock farmer, I am currently a motorcycle rider within my village. On an average I get about $40 as an income. My wife is a housewife and expectant, my income is not enough especially now that we have a baby on the way. The Give Directly transfer will be of be of big help because I will use $800 to buy two cows, $200 for chicken so that my wife can later sell the eggs and support the family in generating more income. The livestock will be used in future as an investment for the children as they start school."

"My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have build a kitchen house. I used to have a grass thatched house which made cooking not easy. I do casual jobs and the amount of money that I get through this casual jobs is so small and cannot meet all the basic needs of the family including buying building materials. I had always wished to own a better house. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has enabled me to build a better house. Currently I have a better kitchen and it has made cooking so easier. I have devoted much of my time on my daily activities without getting worried. GiveDirectly has changed our living standard."

"My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have added stock to my business of retails shop. I own a small business of a retail shop which I started using the previous transfer. I found it wise to invest on this amazing business. I have children in various colleges and universities and every month I am required to provide some money for food and rent. It's so costly for me because I do not have a continuous source of income. I had always wished to start this project but I didn't had the capital. I am so grateful for the support because currently I have this business and paying rent and providing for my children in school is much easier now compared to when I had not received the transfers."

"I spent the money I received from GiveDirectly to purchase two goats. I had always wished to start rearing goats and I found it wise to invest on this. I also started a poultry keeping project , This will also help me generate income through the sales of eggs. The rest of the money I invested on my business of fast food delivery and save some for emergency."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is the pride I have in the two cows in our field. after buying the second one, the hope of seeing a sustainable source of income has slowly been growing. Even though one of them is not producing milk yet, I am full of hope as it is currently expectant and could be calving down in the next two months."

"When I first heard of the great work GiveDirectly was doing in villages, I was so excited to know more about the aid. On talking to the friends and relatives in other villages and seeing the great work they had invested the money in, I first thought they had taken a loan from the organization. I could not understand it well but kept hoping that I will one day get a chance to get one-on-one contact with the field officers who had been visiting villages. When our time came, I was so keen to get every bit of information as I had plenty of ideas to invest in. Living in an old house, and buying milk from the neighborhood every day came top of my list as the "amust -addressed problems" On receiving the transfer, I spent 23000KES on buying a cow, and the remaining 30000KES on constructing a new house. These two have drastically changed our household outlook and I am hopeful that my sources of income will open up."

"In my opinion. GiveDirectly does well by offering us good teachings in regards to the cash transfer. This enlightened most of us since it was our first time holding such a huge amount of money. This also reduced bribery and theft cases becasue everyone was so vigilant. Also, I do not see any part that GiveDirectly need to change."

"I spent part of my second transfer on buying livestock which includes a dairy cow at KES 25000, and three goats at KES 3200 each. These have been the valuable assets that I have been dreaming to own but I could not afford them becsue they were very costly. In addition, I bought some pieces of iron sheets to complete constructing my house which I had earlier started using the first transfers. In addition, I cleared the medical bills since I have been suffering from stomach ulcers for quite a long time. I am glad a am faring well now. With the remaining amount of money, I bought enough foodstuffs for my family."
