"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought a heifer and a oxen. I do casual jobs at the construction sites. The amount of money that I get through this is so small and cannot meet all the basic needs of the family. I do not have a continuous source of income to enable me buy the livestock. The amount of money that I get from the casual jobs is for school fees and food. When I received the transfer I felt so happy and overwhelmed with joy. Currently I have invested on livestock project which has always been my dream. This will helps me in case of any emergency. Currently I intend to save money and buy more livestock. When they have reproduce and many in number I would sell them to pay school fees for my children. I hope to work hard and ensure that my children get the best education. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed my living standard."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought a dairy cow. I used to buy milk daily and this was so costly for me. I do small scale farming and I also operate a small retail shop. The profit that I get from this is so small and cannot meet all the household expenditure including paying school fees for my children. I didn't had another source of income neither did I had savings to enable me to buy a dairy cow. When I received this transfer I found it wise to invest on dairy farming. This has enabled me to cut the daily cost of buying milk from my neighbors which was so expensive for me. Currently I am able to save some money which I could have used to buy milk to pay school fees for my children in various schools. I have also devoted much of my time to this amazing dairy project. I hope to see it grow and learn from it. I also wished to own more that three dairy cows in the next two years. This will be my main source of income since I will be selling the surplus milk to earn an income. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed my living standard and given us hope to improve our living standard of our next generation."

"I have spent my transfer to buy clothes and saved the rest. From my transfer I was able to use k25,000 to buy clothes for me and my child because we did not have enough clothes. I have saved the rest of the money so that I can buy cement, window flames and other house equipments to build a house. I am building a house because paying house rent every month is very costly . My family and I were asked to leave our previous house because the landlord did not like the idea of me staying with my sick mother in law. We are now renting a new house but have decided to build our own house."

"For many years, I have desired to start livestock rearing especially goat keeping so that I may have something to depend on whenever I am faced with financial challenges. I have not been able to accomplish this desire due to lack of finances to fulfill it. I spent $ 230 to purchase 5 goats this is because they are easy to keep, and they can withstand drought conditions, unlike cows. In addition, I bought a solar energy for lighting the house and charging my phone.I also charge my neighbours' phones at a fee. The remaining amount assisted me in acquiring food and paying school fees for my children."

"My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer in that I am now assured of my children's education after paying their school fees in full. Previously, I did not have any money to support their educational need. In addition, I was able to construct a decent shelter, Back in the days, I use to reside in my small kitchen after my house collapsed and my kids us to be sheltered in my neighbour's house. Furthermore, I was able to start a reliable source of income by purchasing a dairy cow which will give a daily income once I start selling milk."
