"I spent half of the money I received from GiveDirectly on adding stock to my existing retail shop business. This earns me a profit which I used in meeting other additional basic household items for my family including paying school fees for my children. The other half of the money I bought a dairy cow. This enabled me to cut the daily cost of buying milk which is so expensive. My family now get enough milk and I sell the surplus."

"I have spent my transfer to buy clothes and saved the rest. From my transfer I was able to use k25,000 to buy clothes for me and my child because we did not have enough clothes. I have saved the rest of the money so that I can buy cement, window flames and other house equipments to build a house. I am building a house because paying house rent every month is very costly . My family and I were asked to leave our previous house because the landlord did not like the idea of me staying with my sick mother in law. We are now renting a new house but have decided to build our own house."

"When I received my transfers, I spent KES 30,000 to purchase a dairy cow. I settled on this so that it would act as a reminder of GiveDirectly in our lives. Also, I spent around KES 10,000 to buy three sets of seats. We decided to buy them since the ones we had were old and few. We used the remaining amount on food and other household necessities."
