"Since there is drought in our area, there is nothing I can do to improve my economic status apart from poultry farming. Using my monthly transfers, I usually buy two to three chickens per month for income generation and investment purposes. This year, I plan to continue boosting my poultry farming to make it a more extensive business venture; I currently have six chickens and will add three more at $3 each using part of my subsequent transfers. When the chickens mature, I will sell them to raise funds to buy goats which I will also sell in the future to raise money for school fees for my four school-going children."

"For the past 10 years, I have been a tailor. Back in the day, they were few tailors in the village, and I would get a lot more money than nowadays. These days I get $2 a week. This money helps me buy food for my family. The money is not always enough to cater to my family's needs and most times my husband helps pay school fees for my children. My husband works as a mechanic. Receiving this money has helped me pay school fees for my three children, two in college and one in high school at $340, and spent the rest on food."

"My wife has epilepsy which has made me the primary provider of the family. She cannot get any employment because of her condition. I spent the first transfer to buy a motorbike that has been helping me with an income. I spent the second transfer to purchase ten goats at $420. The goat produces milk that I sell at $1 a liter. The money from the milk business helps to buy food for my five children who are in school. The other two are young and they have not started school. The other income from the motorbike business is used to pay school fees for them. Receiving this money has helped me save money for the future and buy food without strain."

"The house roof has been leaking for the longest time, my children would get sick, and spend most of my money on medical expenses. I burn timber and sell charcoal and every week I get three sacks that I sell at $4. The money helps me buy food. Somedays when my husband does not make money, we do not eat dinner which makes me sad because that means that the children will wake up hungry and still not take breakfast before school which affects their studies. My husband rents a tuk-tuk, which he gives the owner $10 whenever he works and remains $5. This money helps pay school fees for my four children. Receiving this money has helped me install new iron sheets, paid school fees for my two children for $120, and food for the family."
