Kasichana
received a $430 second payment.
"Before the transfer, I was burning and selling charcoal. In a week I would produce six bags selling them at $3.5. This money has helped me buy food for my family. I have six children that need food and school fees, it has not been easy catering to the family's needs. My husband is a broker who sells livestock and he makes $5 a day. The money is used to pay school fees."

Katana
received a $28 tenth payment.
"Since there is drought in our area, there is nothing I can do to improve my economic status apart from poultry farming. Using my monthly transfers, I usually buy two to three chickens per month for income generation and investment purposes. This year, I plan to continue boosting my poultry farming to make it a more extensive business venture; I currently have six chickens and will add three more at $3 each using part of my subsequent transfers. When the chickens mature, I will sell them to raise funds to buy goats which I will also sell in the future to raise money for school fees for my four school-going children."

Khakala
received a $430 second payment.
"I am a farmer, I cultivate vegetables for domestic use. I help out with food in the house, and my husband who works at the construction site getting a wage of $3 a day helps out with school fees. The money has not been enough to cater to my family's needs and most days if I do not have produce on my farm, we sleep hungry even for two consecutive days. The other challenge is paying school fees for my three children who are in school, most days they are sent away which interferes with their studies."

Florence
received a second payment.
"I started a business of tailoring five years ago. The business only does well during the festive season. On normal day, I get $3. This money is not enough to cater to my family's needs. I only buy food as my husband supports the rest of the bills such as school fees for my two children and pays for water. The drought season has been challenging and food has been expensive most days my family only take one meal a day to survive the day. Receiving this transfer has helped me buy two new machines that will help me increase my productivity at a faster rate, Install electricity at my compound, and buy a goat that would be providing milk for my family."

Rehema
received a $430 second payment.
"My short-term goal is to save money since now I have cleared my children's arrears. If I can save $0.2 daily on a Sacco I will be able to get a loan once the school fee is needed. But at this point, I am happy that the arrears are cleared."

Mariamu
received a $430 second payment.
"The house roof has been leaking for the longest time, my children would get sick, and spend most of my money on medical expenses. I burn timber and sell charcoal and every week I get three sacks that I sell at $4. The money helps me buy food. Somedays when my husband does not make money, we do not eat dinner which makes me sad because that means that the children will wake up hungry and still not take breakfast before school which affects their studies. My husband rents a tuk-tuk, which he gives the owner $10 whenever he works and remains $5. This money helps pay school fees for my four children. Receiving this money has helped me install new iron sheets, paid school fees for my two children for $120, and food for the family."
